Hi, I've been on the group before about our Duo Therm a/c heat pump.The heat pump was tripping the 20a breaker. Now that it is warm, see that the A/C seems to work ok. Coach-Net located a service company to check it out. Turns out it was a residential/commercial outfit. The tech was very nice but hadn't worked on a RV before. We ran the heat pump (it's warmer outside now)and it ran without tripping the breaker. He noted that started out with a normal current but as time went on it slowly increased to 17+amps. His opinion was he didn't see any way to repair the unit and recommended that I have it replaced. He compared it to a housed window unit. I've called around to try to determine exactly what unit I may need. The current unit is a DuoTherm 59136.531 E1.Number one - are these units not repairable? He did say it was not the capacitor.Number two - does anyone know the part number of a replacement a/c heat pump......... I've been waiting quite awhile to hear back from Camping world. We are on theroad and It's awkward because I'm not convinced it needs to be replaced.

People say many of these units are not repairable. However, with enough "engineering" almost anything can be repaired. I have one A/C that I had to "weld" in a R-134a port, vac it out, and refill.I know that doesn't answer your question, but I believe anything is a possibility.

If the amps keeps increasing while running the compressor or motor which every he had the meter on is bad. The motor can be replace, I have replace one of mine. The compressor is going to be harder to find. If you can find one then yes, it can be repaired.PPL show one at $575 plus installation. You would need your model # plus part number on the old compressor and call Duo Therm 1-800 544 4881 direct.

Tim, May I ask, what kind of RV this unit is for? And, is this a "basement A/C" unit like we and, many Winne and Itasca owners have or, is this a roof unit?Scott

Not sure if it is called a Brisk Air or not. I didn't see that anywhere on it. The thermostat looks pretty plain. It's a DuoTherm Comfort Control.

The Comfort control means you have the 5 button LCD tstat. The Brisk Air is when you have a 59 series model number. Doug

Sorry to hear you haven't done well with Coach-Net. We've been pleased using it for quite a few years. Unfortunately, when I called the service provider I didn't ask I "assumed" they were RV specialists - - - - you know what assume means...:(

Sure, It's on a Tiffin Open Road 32BA. The unit is on the roof.

They are not repairable for any part of the sealed system because the cost is too high versus replacement of the upper unit. Under warranty, Dometic and RVP replace the complete upper unit if the compressor or the sealed system fails and leaks. You CAN find someone to replace the parts but it will cost more than it is worth. I can replace compressors and such but if it was MINE, I would replace the upper unit(not worth my time and money to do). You have a Brisk Air model and what kind of wall tstat do you have? Tim.....Sometimes you can spend a bunch of money on a 9 year old unit and then have something else quit. You need to do whatever you think is best, but if you decide to replace it, PPL Motors is very good at fixing you up with a unit that will still work with your thermostat and your other unit.
