For me, as someone who is in every one of your same shoes...I would gladly pay extra for something done right; and most of the time the ultimate bill is less than something done half way. Tommy
The thing is, if ANY service facility agrees to work on your coach, it SHOULD be done right the first time, period.
Saying that you, or anyone else, should be happy to pay extra to have the job done right, is like going in to a restaurant and having your food prepared according to how much you are willing to pay.
If you do RV service, you either do it right, or you shut down. Every customer goes to a service facility expecting to have the job done right so I think you should forget about price and concentrate on improving the work ethic of the RV mechanics/service facilities.
From years of owning my own businesses, I know that no matter how much you pay a poor employee, he will always remain a poor employee. A good worker does the job right because he would not do it any other way. Paying a good worker more will NOT improve his already excellent work ethic but it is a nice reward.
And there is the answer. - Campfire_TimeExplorerMy thought is that the thread was closed simply because the question was answered. Overwhelmingly the answer was no. Keeping a thread like that open is like beating a dead horse. There's just no point after a while.
On the other hand, when moderators close a thread, as a courtesy to the OP and folks following the discussion, they should put in the reason so we all know what's up. Some do this, most don't. - rgatijnet1Explorer III

Well get ready for the other shoe to drop.........
it's against the forum rules to reopen a thread that has been closed! :W
This one should poof any time now.
With respect: Is this an "unwritten" rule?
I just rechecked the rules as posted and saw no mention of this. - rvis2005Explorer

Sorry for speculating
Sooo, what is your reason for the survey?
Professionally and personally my life is the RV Industry. My companies deal with RV owners and RV service facilities on a daily basis.
While we constantly deal with service departments, I wondered what the folks on RV.Net had to say about paying more in the event service improved. The results were very interesting.
For me, as someone who is in every one of your same shoes...I would gladly pay extra for something done right; and most of the time the ultimate bill is less than something done half way. (For those of you who pay way less and get great service I applaud you and am not talking to you)
Since I make my living in this industry, and raise my family camping I want to keep the business strong...and that means improve service if possible. Tommy - J-RoosterExplorer

I missed it Tommy! I would have liked to read it! Last thread that I seen that was closed the OP was posting about traveling with handguns. That and giving out web addresses is a no no on this site.
All: I have no idea why that thread was closed. Those of you that answered I want to thank you.
Perhaps I broke a rule or something with my survey, but I'm very confused why the thread was closed.
Again Thank you.
Tommy
Well, I don't think anyone did any of that. Oh well. It was interesting though. :)
For the benefit of those who missed: That Thread
I can only guess the reason for closing the topic was the overwhelming number of replies in the "NO WAY" column - which indeed includes MY vote. This time I'm siding with the moderator... ...Enough was Enough! - rockhillmanorExplorer IISorry for speculating.
Sooo, what is your reason for the survey? - rollingslowExploreryes becouse if they are that high i expect them to be a lot better and faster so it should be cheper and a lot faster

Nobody should get angry about a yes or no question. There is a reason for my question I promise. Tommy
And just what IS the reason?
Did you pay that rate to have your RV repaired and are not happy with the repairs? And perhaps want some sort of printed documentation that the general consensus is that it is too high? :?
Rockhillmanor. See? You ask me a question then you speculate what my answer is. Your spirit is wrong. Calm down. I'm compiling some info. Jesus!
...and NO. I wasn't wronged and I have no grievance. Tommy - rvis2005Explorer
