Slide Floor

I am in need of a sanity check. I have had the front drivers side slide floor replaced. I went to pick up my coch Saturday and found that when closed, the floor stuck up about two and a half inches above the coach floor, this leaves a large opening for dirt and small items to get under the slide, my recolection was that the floor was flush when closed. I didn't take any photos before the repair, so I'm having trouble explaining to the service people what I'm talking about.

  • Did you replace the floor with carpet or hardwood/tile? There should be a flap sticking out the end of the slide on the inside about 6 to 8 inches long that droops down to cover that gap you see. If you replaced with hardwood/tile, then there is no way to cover that gap. can you post a pic of the gap? Doug
  • Mr. Mark,

Thanks for the info, a friend, "Lug_Nut" call me at home and basically told me the same thing, he feels that if anything, they reinstalled the carpet wrong and not the slide. He believes that they didn't leave enough of an overhang with the carpet and it does not drape down over the edge of the floor.

I hope you guys are correct, when I opened the door yesterday and saw this void, I was not a happy camper, we travel with pets and I could see all kinds of toys and other object being pushed under the carpeting and getting caught under the slide, causing damage each and every time it was used. Before the slide floor had been replaced, the carpet hung down and there was no viable gap between the coach floor and the carpeting.

Thanks again for the info, I will check this out further to see if it may be a simple fix.
  • Paul, on our previous '08 Dynasty, the center floor was tile and the slide flooring was carpet. I could tell when closed that the lip does stick up but we had carpet that covered that area.

If we didn't have carpet over lapping, there would be an opening.

So, did you replace carpet with a hard surface material?
