I have a 2000 Winnebago Minnie Winnie. I am looking at the City Water Connection photo on page 7-2 in the owners manual. My problem is a leak from this connection, but I am not hooked up to city water. I am getting my water by running my pump from the fresh water connection. Inside the City Water Connection is a plunger that appears to be leaking. Is this a repairable situtation by removing and fixing or does the plunger valve piece need to be replaced?

A new check valve is pretty cheap. With the water turned off, go inside and remove the water line from the city water connection, punch out the old check valve pieces, and screw a brand new brass check valve on the inside and reattach the water line you took off earlier.

Best answer is probably to replace the check valve. It is a very simple fix and probably $25 or less for the part.

Easiest fix its to replace the whole inlet. 3 screws on the outside, unscrew from the inside, and replace with a new one. 20 bucks or so. The o ring has been unseated, and you can get it back in, but I've not had much luck doing so.

I did fix mine once after pressing it to get antifreeze into the valve. I had the system under pressure, and the O ring went out of it's socket.It was finicky, and I think a new one if it's close by would be a better solution.

That started leaking a couple of years ago on my 07 Winnebago Outlook. It is just a check valve. I bought a new check valve and replaced it.

There is a brass backflow valve on the hot water heater that I had do the same thing to me after the city intake last year. Sucks- I learned how to repair it after reading a few pages, and you can still get the part for the hot water heater. Seems like the obvious stuff fails- when you winterize your unit they tell you to actually push on the valve so that you get the antifreeze to come out.

That's what I use as a permanent fix, my water supply hookup is inside a compartment so its not seen, works great, easy cheap fix..

THANKS to everyone who responded. I actually used a two step approach: I did as PSW described above and I also bought a similiar connection at the local hardware store and made what I hope will be a permanent fix.

It is a check valve, it hasn't closed, can be replaced or repaired. Any servicing RV dealer has or can get the parts.

I keep a plug in my city water inlet whenever I am not using it. So I don't know whether or not the check valve works.

I may have three plugs, think I got spares and they are packaged as two per blister pack.

If I am understanding you correctly, you have a little plastic check valve/back flow preventor in the place where your water supply hose enters your rv? Commonly, you will get a little debris in those valves which will cause them not to seat properly. Take something and activate the valve and work it back and forth a few times. I can use my little finger on ours. That often knocks out what is causing the leak and ends the problem. Otherwise, replace or use the cutoff valve suggested in one of the above posts. I have done that also.

THANKS to everyone who responded. HOTBYTE, LOVE the photos. Perfect. I wrote to David Straw at Lichstsinn about a Winnebago part and he said that part was no longer made and the replacement was plastic and would require me drilling more holes for fitting. Comments appreciated.
