Anyone looking into Millenicom for your wireless data STAY away. We signed up about 4 months ago paid $164.98 for their equipment it works great. Then we get a notice their monthly rate for 20 GB would increase from $69 a month to $89 a month. If we had known this we would not have bought the equipment. This is an unreasonable increase. only plus side is there is no contract. So we are out $164.98. :S

Took until around 2:40PM today for Millenicom to restore our service today June 1st. Starting asking when it was going to be restored around 12:05AM this morning and they promised no later than 12:00 Noon. They admitted they had a large quantity of customers that they had to send a request to Verizon to get restored.

Ask yourself

Does cable or Sat tv tell you months in advance there will be a price increase ?

Do oil companies tell you buy gas tonight, tomorrow it goes up

Yes it went up $20 , are you going to do without internet ?
Are you going to go to another vendor and spend even more money per month
If you knew in advance (which many people did) that it was going to go up
Would you have said forget about it I don't want need internet ?
They advertised the then current price, it could have gone up the day after you signed up for service, it didn't..
In that case even I would be upset..But the situation would still be the same..still the cheapest service available
The only thing I think of that this affects was advance planning of the budget of what to do with that $20 extra expense/savings
And yes I'm on a fixed income, retired on SS
And my phone and internet cost us approx $125 a month, no cable tv, no Sat tv
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

What part of "No contract" do people not understand? It seems to me that would apply to all parties involved; Verizon can raise their price to a reseller, Millinicon can pass the cost on to the consumer (or not), the consumer can go elsewhere (minus $165) for their service. As for the price increase, Verizon may have concluded that they were in effect subsidizing their competition and losing customers in the process. They may need to adjust it again.

The price increase has been well discussed on this and many other forums for close to 2 months. I really am terribly sorry you missed that information before you made your purchase. As others have said, it's still the best deal and it's going to be WAY better than anything you can replace it with if you factor in the $165 you have already spent.

That's all true. But during those discussions back in April, Millenicom were still displaying the $69 price on their web site. It wasn't until the new price actually went into effect that they updated their web site. There was no advanced warning to potential customers. Very deceptive behavior, I am sure a lot of people felt cheated if they signed up right before the price increase. I was thinking of switching at the time, just waiting for my Verizon contract to expire so I was watching. I might end up switching, even at $89 the deal is a good one. Their handling of this though was less than honest.

What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

The difference is what services can be provided when you are parked in one location and what services can be provided when you are mobile. Your home internet service is either satellite internet or cable (most likely sat. internet) and you can't use it anywhere but at home.

Guys it is scary how little I know about latest tech. I went to Millenicom and if I understand correctly I can have internet service for my permenatly parked TT around $90/ month.
Dishnet says for about the same $ I can get satallite tv (120 package) and 20 gig/ monthly internet. I don't understand the differences in $$. I think I'm missing something?

While I'm not happy with the Millenicom price increase, but I do know why it happened, and Millenicom really had no choice. No one else offers a 20GB 4G service with Verizon's superb coverage at anywhere near that price. Besides our Millenicom service, we also have a Straight Talk 3G hotspot that also uses the Verizon network. When our Millenicom account comes up short, and it's too close to the end of the month to add another 20GB block, we just fire up the Straight Talk hotspot and add either 1, 2, 4, 5, or 7GB, with 4 and 5GB being the best deal, to get us through to the next Millenicom cycle. Ideally, I'd like to see Millenicom offer add-ons in smaller quantities. Adding a 20GB block when there's just a few more days to go just doesn't make any sense.

The very first month paying $89.99 we were cut off the last three days of May for reaching the 20GB limit. If and when I find something better Verizon and Mellinicom will get dumped.

Try and find 20G of data for $89 a month especially with no contract. It ain't gonna happen.

Some of us guys " beef" about rising prices because our once fixed income is now a rapidly declining income. (Insurance, fuel, food, taxes etc) You are right about the fact you can't do anything about it, but please let us beef some.

Try to find 20GB for anywhere close to $100 anywhere else and you will come up empty unless you select a very restrictive coverage map!! I really don't understand your beef. How much did real beef go up this last year? We are going to pay more and more for everything we use as time goes by - just a fact and nothing we can do about it.

I heard they was going to increase the cost of using 20GB data... Sorry to hear it actually happened... Just like all of the other Internet providers are doing.

This was one of the last good deals we had to create a local WIFI hotspot to use with all our units for downstreaming TV programs.

What other setup would you have gone to for downstreaming large data amounts.
