- Chandler1ExplorerI did send email and they responded so I guess that is the trick. I'm going to try the dielectric grease as one last shot before my trip to see if it will move. If not I need to send my entire assembly back so they can unscrew the pcb and install a new one.
- SCVJeffExplorerI've had several email exchanges with Winegard and never wait more than a day for a return. As mentioned above (with the exception of Bills tips) they are not going to sell any internal electronics direct to end users.. They obviously have no idea the expertise of swiped user.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIIf you can go up on the roof you next step is to go to the area where the cables enter the base and remove the top cover plate (4 screws). Inside you will see the control cable (center cord) and you need to, very gently, pull that cable from the inside until you find the 6-pin connector just like the one plugged into your controller inside. It might be loose but even if it is not, unplug and check for corrosion. I recommend you put a dab of di-electric grease in the connection after unplugging and pluggin in a few times. Hopefully, when this is done you will re-gain communications and all will be good. You should then do a Calibrate EL after completion. However, you can also try this before you do anything else to see if it will clear the error message. If the dish will perform the Calibrate EL routine you will be back in business but I would still go up on the roof and get some di-electric in that connection. That connection is a weak point in the setup on the older Trav'lers which appears to have been addressed in later Trav'lers.

We have an RV satellite technician who does our satellite work. We just replaced an outdated dome dish with a Winegard G2 and he told us that you have to ship the satellite to Winegard for service. He can't even work on them. He says he will keep a loner on hand because of that. He also told us that our old dish would no longer work within the next year because DISH and DirecTV were changing their satellites. No more software updates for the old domes like TracStar like we had. Our technician is in Houston TX. Sats2Go if anyone is in the area, he is the RV satellite "guru". Excellent work and reasonable prices.
Seems like a waste of labor to not sell cables and the electronic board under the dish. - sdianel_-acct_cExplorer
- Chandler1Explorerdirectv. The communication issue is alignment box to satellite motors. It isn't related to dish alignment or signal quality. They say to unpug the cable and connect but I've done it many times. I tried to buy a replacement cable but received an extension cable so plug ends didn't match. Can't really find a replacement cable for these anywhere.
I sent winegard an email. - sdianel_-acct_cExplorerdo you have DISH or DirecTV?
- Dick_AExplorerMoved from tech Issues forum.
