Where Can I Find an Owner's Manual?

I received outstanding list of responses to my question yesterday, so I'll post a couple more. Thanks everyone.

According to NADAguides, the manufacturer of my used 5th wheel is no longer in business, making it difficult for me to obtain an owners manual.

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on one?
  • You are assuming that an owner's manual existed. For many brands, it did not, except possibly a manual for RV's generally.

The owners' manual for the trailer, Well the trailer is basically walls, floor ceiling, roof and frame,, Nothing in this SHOULD need an owner's manual save for lubrication of the axle and brake maintenance .

All the "Stuff" in the trailer, Microwave, Water Pump, Toilet, TV's and other electronics, Converters, even the fuse box and breaker box and yes, the hitch, All those are made by other companies and most likely you can download an owner's manual.

Finally, there are a couple of books.
The Rv Owner's Handbook at Amazon

The RV book, also at Amazon

These are "Generic" owner's manuals, the first one can be found at Camping World if you wish to see it before you buy, the 2nd at selected dealers.

I found a couple chapters in the one I have (Forget which one) to be BETTER than the factory manual.

X2, they are very generic and general and contain only very basic information, most of which you already know. If you think you'll get model specif info like wiring diagrams and plumbing info, forget it. At lease that was the case on my last 2 trailers. The problem is many print 1 basic manual for all their models.

When we got the new trailer, I downloaded all the mfg manuals for the fridge, AC, water heater, etc, and keep them on a laptop for quick reference.

  • The best "manual" for all RVs is the "RV Repair and Maintenance Manual" by Bob Livingston. It will help you maintain and/or repair any system in your rig.

The odds are the factory manual was the same for all models made by that firm (most are) so things like which gauge shows which tank, are, well, not going to happen.

As noted, Norcold, Dometic, Suburban, Atwood, etc; all have on-line PDFs for the various systems in your rig, down-load those and you at least something.
  • We got all the documentation from the original owners when we bought our MH. The official Georgetown owner's manual could be used as fire starter, but it's about useless for anything else.
  • Voodoo, it's a '06 Thor Jazz 2980BH fifth wheel. I'm mainly trying to figure out the tank drains. Thanks.
  • An owners manual for a RV is worthless. I would not spend any time looking for one. Manufactures for components in the RV have web sites and manuals for there items which may prove useful. These can be downloaded anytime you need one.
  • You could check eBay, sometimes there are Owners Manuals there.
Or, ask for help on every RV forum you can find. Maybe somebody would be willing to make a copy for you.
The manuals for the appliances are (or should be) available for download from the appliance manufacturer's website.
If you are lucky enough to find a manual for the trailer, don't spend very much on it. Chances are, it will prove to be pretty much useless. Those Owners Manuals are usually printed to cover a wide range of models as a cost saving measure, therefore they don't have a lot of information about any specific model.
    Good luck in your search.
