Anderson Camper Levelers, anyone use them, do you like them?

You obviously missed this discussion on the same topic. BTW, it's Andersen. ;)

They work great, save time!

I thought they would be the cat's meow. Then one broke for no good reason, in the middle of the night. It sounded as if a gun had been fired.

I'm back to using boards.

Not what I wanted to read, sorry that happened. Did you contact the manufacturers to see if they would replace it or refund?

We're you moving at the time or stationary?

I was stationary. I found they sometimes slipped on the ground. I was offered a replacement--but it never arrived.

To have this happen as you're pulling up on to an Andersen leveler would be shocking enough but having this happen in the middle of the night as you were sleeping must have been terrifying ... yikes! :E In my world it's my responsibility to make sure our trailer is leveled & properly chocked so it can't ever shift even the slightest, no matter the slope of the site, and my wife trusts me to do this. I have little doubt that if this had happened to us in the middle of the night that would have permanently been the end of our camping career. Yikes! :E

Even though it may take a bit longer to set up than the Andersen method I think I'll stick to my tried & true Lynx / Wood leveling system, secured with rubber chocks - works perfectly every time no matter the slope of the site. :B

NOT safe IMHO!!!

I have them, and have used on occasion. It is really a two person process- one person to watch, and place the stop piece-the other keeping brake applied, and preventing any movement back or forth on trailer.

Get yourself a surplus WW2 Army helmet or better yet a gold football helmet. I told the wife to back up and when she did the Anderson leveler launched itself like a missile, right past my nose by about 3" lol. I gave it away that weekend to a gent who had the site across the road, and it was good I still had the 2x10s in the truck.
