Hey all, I just installed my new blue ox sway sway pro and it went pretty smooth. Very easy to do. The only problem I have is it looks like the front of the trailer is a little high. I have the hitch assembly as low as it will go. I pulled it around the block a couple of times and it seemed to be fine but I'm new to this so I don't know. I had to flip the receiver upside down and use lowest holes or else the ball would of been way to high. Is this normal? I measured the front and rear of the truck and they are pretty close. Front is 38" and Rear is 38 1/2" or so. Moderator edit to re-size picture to forum recommended limit of 640px maximum width.

Just a thought, but are you sure you have sufficient weight transfer going on here? The Blue Ox Sway Pro is quite different from other WD systems in that those spring bars, when properly loaded, should bend quite a bit but from your pics it appears yours aren't.

Looks pretty good to me. Not worth purchasing a new shank for that amount as long as it tows well and you don't drag the rear end of the trailer every time you enter a gas station. Yes, it is normal to flip the shank either up or down.Barney

The front and rear measurements dont mean much as fenders are different sizes. A quick way to tell how much weight you are trasnferring is to take 3 measurements. 1) front fender w/out the trailer hooked up2) front fender w/ the trailer hooked up but WDH unhooked3) front fenter w/ the trailer and WDH hooked upThe goal is for 3 to be at least 50% of the way between 1 and 2.

I have the swaypro and I had to flip it over to get the proper ball height. However, the front end should not be lifting up. On the website, I remember there is a chart that tells you to add or subtract chain length depending on what is happening. That would make it look more flexed like an other poster mentioned. Mine has a nice curve to it and I am perfectly level.

A tiny bit nose high is not going to hurt anything. If everything else is good then go with it and don't worry about it.

I agree with others to load the trailer up and see how it tows. Ideally you want the trailer level or slightly nose down. You might get so close to that that it won't make a difference. Give it a try.

Best to load your gear and see how it looks. As it sits now, I would let one chain link out and look it over. Congrats on buying a good hitch.

Yes, mine is fixed. Part of the reason i got a sway pro.

Setting the top of the hitch ball 1" to 2" above the level of the trailer coupler is correct when setting up a Blue Ox Sway Pro. If that requires the head shank to be flipped then so be it, if that creates ground clearance issues with your particular TV you may be forced to invest in a custom shank. I'd agree with an earlier poster ... since you have so many questions you'd be better off to contact Blue Ox directly rather than rely on WAGs from some who don't own or have probably never even seen a Sway Pro. ;)

Of course it matters, a LOT ... you always want to set up any WD distribution system as the trailer would be typically loaded for a camping trip. That's why those who have WD system set up by the dealer tech on an empty trailer often find they have to adjust it later once they have finally settled on how they're going to typically load their rig. Well, if I understand correctly it will just be re adjusting the bars once the trailer is loaded right?

For general loading that is correct, unless you add a TON of weight you shouldn't have to re-angle the head.

Can you email your pictures to Blue Ox? They have great customer service and will give you the best advise.

Does the ball adjust on yours? Ours has a dial we can adjust the ball to move on an angle from straight up and down. I am not sure if the newer model Blue Ox has that feature.

See if you can flip it where the long piece is up. Also your breakaway cable looks like it is hanging pretty low.

Since we flipped ours, it works great, love the Blue Ox. No noise, easy to set up. Lube the zert fittings and your hitch ball.

According to the instructions the trailer ball hitch should be 1 to 2" above level trailer hitch. When I leveled the trailer and had it flipped up and set on lowest hole pattern it was way to high. Like 5 -6 inches or so. I had to flip down to get the 1 - 2 inches as per the instructions.

I also measured my truck front and rear height when not hooked up and the front was 37 1/2" ( 38" with sway pro hooked up) and rear was 39 1/8" ( 38 1/2" with sway pro hooked up)
