Norcold door seal

Have any of you replaced the seal on the 8 cu. ft. Norcold refrigerator? We noticed that our seal has a 3 inch tear in it at the bottom of the door. Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks,
Don
  • I think the seals are available through Norcold but a 3" tear would have me gluing it back together. It may be a functional seal, even with the tear but I'd be worried that it may just keep growing.
  • We were told by Camping World you cannot get a new seal. You have to buy an entire door.
  • This is the OP. Thanks for the replies. We put a piece of black electrical tape on the tear. It seems to be holding after 3 days. We have been traveling for 3 weeks and we think that something sticky got on the bottom of the refrigerator and the door stuck to it. We will check it now and then to make sure that the tape will be a sufficient fix.

  • Norcold told me no seals available. I would have to buy a door for almost $600. If I ever get another rv it will have a residential fridge.
  • I had a hinge break. No replacement part. Had to buy a new door. After calling several RV repair facilities I did fid out that many keep old doors for use as replacement parts. You might want to check local repair facilities as you travel, You may find one that has a seal that will fit. Good luck.

I would clean the tear with a solvent and bond it back together with Shoe Goo, Goop or a similar product. Something that cures and remains flexible.
