blowing out lines - ewww???

Just use bottled water only for drinking like DW does. Problem solved (as far as she's concerned anyway).

I use the same pancake compressor. Have a 3-stage filtration setup for drinking water at the kitchen sink which filters down to 0.2 microns so not a concern. Some will drink water straight from a pond at the side of the road tho. and not have the slightest concern.

You could get a mini inline desiccant air dryer/filter like in the photo for around $10-15. If you got one just to blow out your lines once a year, not sure if it's a good idea to let sit for a year due to possible bacteria growth or deterioration of the dessicant? About the same cost as buying a couple of jugs of antifreeze tho.

You should see what comes out of a 60 gal. tank if you don't drain it often enough.... EWWW!

You can get rid if the black stuff and water by opening the drain at the bottom of the tank and tilting it slightly to drain. Then pressurize the tank several times and open the valve. The air coming out may look clean but put you hand or a white rag in the air and you may still see black. After emptying the tank several times the air coming out will be clean. To convince yourself the black stuff is not getting into your lines just blow air from your hose into a white rag and inspect it afterwards. I flush the compressor tank just to remove moisture so the tank won't rust inside not because I worried about black stuff getting into the lines of the MH.

I'd be more concerned about how to clean up the black sludge on the carpet than what went through to water lines.

NOT TRUE. The moisture and any other liquid debris in a Air Tank WILL come out the air hose in mists or spurts. It does NOT just sit on the bottom of the tank. Doug

It seems to me there is no use blowing if you are going to use RV antifreeze anyway - it does the job all by itself. Did mine this morning. What a pleasure with the new pump membrane. It sucked the pink stuff out of the jug without any persuasion.

Not much if any of the "ewwww" gets into your water lines.

The moisture settles out to the bottom of the tank. Air is drawn off the top of the tank.

I used an air compressor once. I just use my water pump to blow the lines. First I drain the water tank and water heater. Then bypass the water heater. I turn on the pump and let it run. I open the low point drains until no water comes out. I close them for a minute, then open them again. Some residual water and air comes out. I close the drains, then check all the faucets and shower and make sure just air comes out. After that I run the pink antifreeze thru all the lines using the syphon hose attached to the pump.
The last 2 years, I had to make the decision a couple of times to evacuate to a Motel when temps dropped to the single digits. It was too darn cold out to use a compressor. :E

Yep, I use the pump and pump about 2 gallons into the line and thru the faucets, toilet ,outside shower and the city water connection. Of course I bypassed the hot water tank and just drained it.
