Generator Oil Onan

My rig is a 2011 Four Winds 28A

I have a 4KW Onan generator built in to it.

When I remove the generator dip stick after sitting for days it shows no oil. If I screw the dip stick back in and remove it. It shows half full. I have done this about five times because the results are so, so, worrying.

Do I need to add oil?

    You must have one of those dipstick with long tube and well sealed cap on top.
    Those create vacuum, or pressure in the tube depends on temperature, so the readout first time doesn't count. Pull the dipstick, wipe it off, reinsert and then check.

    If dipstick is showing half full then it's half full. pull the dipstick and shine a flashlight in the hole or stick your finger in the hole and see if there is oil if you don't believe the dip stick. Oil should be an inch or so below the top of the dipstick hole.
