UPDATE Removing Sharp Carousel Micro/convection

Anyone out there that knows how to remove a Sharp Carousel MicroConvection oven from a 2002 Itasca Horizon?

We're in southern Mexico so too far from an RV shop. I need to get it out to see if there is anything that I can fix or get fixed here.

This is a daily use item and we depend on it for cooking most of our meals. When the outside temperature is 26C (79F) at 9:00 AM with daily highs in the 30s we really don't want to fire up the propane oven! :E

Our Sharp microwave/convection oven was connected to a special wall-mounted bracket by two very long bolts (about 15" long) that came up from the bottom of the oven. There's also a "lip" at the top of that bracket that matches one on the back of the oven. Once you remove those two long bolts, you then have to lift the oven about 1/4" to disengage those "lips" and free it. Have lots of support - that's a heavy beast. There was absolutely no shelf or other support at the top.

To replace it with a non RV model, we had to build a strong shelf to hang the new one from. Real pain.

Does he even have an overhead cabinet? We don't. Our Sharp convection/microwave is in the big slide and the mountings on top would have to be into the ceiling of the slide. Looks like you would have the top vent panel to get off and perhaps a small wood trim piece to get to any screws.

Removing microwaves is a straight foreword job. In the cupboard or cabinet above it you will find where it is plugged in. Unplug it. Next look, you will see two philips head screws on the floor or the cabinet. Remove them. Either have someone hold the microwave up or be prepared. They are heavy and akward. Once the screws are out, tip towards you to about 45 degrees and lift off the bracket.

What you stated is true for a Stick home mount but it is MORE detailed on a RV mount. RV's they MUST install extra screws to secure the top of the M/W to the overhead cabinet. If they did not install those extra screws, the M/W would eventually crack the rear wall mount plate from vibration and the unit would fall off the wall. The only exception to those extra screws are M/W that have the 2 standard mount screws that come down from the top overhead cabinet into the top of the M/W, which usually is in Towables, not Motorhomes due to clearance issues. Every RV microwave I have had to deal with are mounted exactly the same as household. The only exception MIGHT be one or two extra screws somewhere.

Most are mounted the same. You have the standard Stick home mount bolts you remove thru the underside vent filters. Then you have to remove the upper plastic vent grill and you will see 2 to 5 screws holding the top to the upper wood cabinet. Now, some models(very few), there will be a wood Fascia above the top of the M/W that pops out and you will see 2 "L" brackets holding the top. Doug
