and should hold for years
I really hope it does.
Maybe the brand carried by RV centers is a better quality than what I got at Wally World. - trailernoviceExplorerthanks to all for the 'awning tape' suggestion....i'd never heard of the product...bought a roll through CW...put it on the tear this weekend...barely noticeable, and should hold for years

I thought of eternabond, does it roll up ok
Yes, no problem. - doxiemom11Explorer IIOurs didn't really tear, but the stitching was sun rotted and all of the thread on the seams started giving out and the awning was coming off from the tract at the top where it fastens onto the rv. We removed the awning, bought a used sewing machine at a thrift store, purchased thread used for outdoor purposes and resewed all seams. We re-installed and overall cost was $35.00.
- HorsedocExplorer III used Ebond tape several years ago on the old style awning on our 2000 Itasca Horizon. Worked great. NOT double sided tape however. Our present coach has a different looking awning fabric. It would likely work as well, just have not tried it
- johnhicksExplorerI've used sail repair tape from West Marine. If it's stressed you'll probably need to have it stitched.
- jpmihalkExplorerI used Gorilla tape on our old manual awning on our previous RV. It worked well and was taped on both sides.

Got a small (five inch) tear in the awning fabric, where the piece that's in the roller joins with the main piece...
What's the best way to repair? staples? sewing? Is there maybe a fabric glue?
That is a tough spot.. If you have the room I'd sew and glue and glue on a strip of something to reinforce I like denim for that in most cases but at that spot be careful cause it may cause the awning to wind up odd.
Mine have torn in a few spots but always closer to the body where I can add a layer of reinforcement no problem (last turn as it rolls up.) - Dave_H_MExplorer IIgood info here, never heard of awning tape.
- scbwrExplorer III've used awning tape to cover a small hole and it worked. But in this case, I'd find a good shop that repairs awnings, boat seats, etc. I don't think it would cost that much and they could make a proper repair i.e. stitch it up so that it will be repaired for the long haul.
