I would think this had been addressed here previously but I tried the advanced search and also a regular internet search and couldn't find a definitive answer. I'm looking for a 24" TV for my TT. It seems most (maybe all) of the ones in this size have their power input on the rear labeled "12V DC." Is it possible for me to use a third party DC adapter (such as this one) instead of the supplied AC cord? My TT has a DC socket located where the TV would be mounted. I did see this thread, where on the second page mbopp noted one needs to know what he/she is doing or you'd fry the TV.

Please post make and model of the Television. I bought a 12 V television with a built in DVD and it works great. No need but anything but a lighter socket.

You just have to make sure that the polarity of the contacts is correct and possibly check that any fusing (inside the adapter maybe) is adequate for the current draw. As other asked, what tv are you referring to?

the part you show will run your tv adequately if the input is labelled 12 volt. Most TV's are 12 volt and some have an inline puck transformer and others an internal transformer. Yours has a puck since the input is labelled 12 volt. USE THE CORD

I did exactly that with mine, cut off the cord and hard wired it to a 12v plug, in fact I also found a Sony blu-ray player that is also 12v and it's wired the same way. I've been using it this way for a couple years.

Thanks all! I think I will go forward with buying one of these.

For those of you wondering why I don't just buy a television with AC and DC capability out of the box, I don't have a lot of confidence in Jensen-branded sets. There's also Axess TV's but they have mixed reviews on Amazon.

Not to mention the 24-inch ones I'm looking at don't run much over 130-140 dollars.

If you look at the TV pics on the referenced page it clearly shows 12VDC input. 6th picture from the left.

If the TV is labeled to run on 12VDC why do you need any kind of adapter? Just wire it directly to the trailer 12VDC system. Just make sure you get the polarity right.

A puck transformer could be set at an output of 12VDC but most I've handled have an unloaded output of 14+ VDC. This is to assure that as current is used by the device (a TV, in this case), the voltage remains close to 12 VDC. A television should be able to handle any increased voltage from the RV's converter.

The question I would ask is how tolerant the appliance is to voltage fluctuations over voltage. My PD converter puts out 14.4V during boost phase as does the Morningstar solar controller. A DC DC buck converter could regulate this to 12VDC.
