Should I delete? Delete comparison

I "think" I missed something here? I don't understand what you mean by "delete"? Are you thinking of getting rid of your 350 for something else?

He means delete the emissions equipment like the DPF, SCR, and EGR system.

It is like the 1970s all over again :(

OH, well, only if he want to void any warranties on the truck!

I would not and basically, could not because of emissions testing where I live. But even if I could, I would not because a state could start testing at any time and because you could have a very difficult time selling or trading in a deleted truck as dealers could be held liable for the missing parts.

BTW, all of the reports I've heard say you get 1 to 2 mpg better after delete. The exhaust parts don't slow down the flow very much.

Obviously he is not subject to an annual inspection. My buddy 'lost' the cat on his Ram diesel, went 4" from the turbo back. Noticeable increase in power with a louder bark.

1) Doing a delete is illegal. Enforcement may be sparse to non-existent in most of the country, but if you're a business owner, odds of getting reported and fined became much higher.

2) Ford has a "no-touch" policy on trucks that are deleted. Dealers are not so supposed to perform any warranty work on a deleted truck. Furthermore, deleting the truck requires a programming. There's no way to remove the "bread-crumbs" left behind, even if you restore to stock, which Ford can use to deny powertrain warranty claims.

3) The stock 6.7L makes almost double to the HP and torque of a the 7.3L. When you say your son's truck reminds you of the 7.3, are you saying it feels slower? And noisier? Besides purchase repair costs, I see zero advantages of a 7.3L over a 6.7L...

Yes, no emission testing here, never will be.
Everything can be returned to stock in a day.

Lots of positives, no Def, better breathing motor, better mpg

As far as emissions, how much more when you compare 5 more mpg,
No more very RICH DPF operations.
Warranty not a concern.

I would do it if I didn't live in an area with emissions testing. Once I'm out of warranty I'll still consider deleting it and then dealing with restoring the stuff to pass the test every other year. I don't like the complexity the emissions systems add. Power wise I would keep the stock tune.

In the early 70's, I removed the stinkin' emissions **** from my '69 Camaro SS 396. Sold it in '75. When Kookifornia started mandatory emissions testing a few years later, the parts were still in my garage. The guy never came by to ask about them. Granted, you are not in Kookifornia, but you never know when that stuff will start up. It did run sooooo much better without the emissions controls on it, though.
