Double ditto. The multiple hurricanes with their storm surges keep the section between Texas and Tallahassee FL in constant need of repair.
Drove a short distance on it last year. Got off ASAP. We’ve been driving I 20 for our East-West long trips in the southern tier.
Ah, no. The Florida section of I-10 is one of the best road surfaces on that highway. If there is hurricane disruption the FDOT people jump to getting it fixed as quickly as possible. Florida politicians know that tourists=money and do their best to keep them happy. At least in the part of the state away from Miami/Palm Beach. There is minimal corruption. None of that is true for Louisiana where crooks fresh out of prison get elected Governor. - tomman58ExplorerDrove I10 this early winter. They are rebuilding it finally. I've had worse drives through construction in the South. I was happy to see the old road go as stated many times it was one of the worst. The 18 mile bridge is smooth and easy going. I have over 65' of truck and trailer. I go that way every year as it is no worse than other roads in the south.

They are always rebuilding it but it never gets rebuilt. And Florida will do construction work on one lane or at night to minimize disruption. Not so in LA. I recall one 5 mile traffic backup coming up on the bridge across the Mississippi. When we finally got to the construction there were about 20 or 30 guys standing around and watching one guy paint traffic markings on one lane. Something that could have been done at 2 AM with minimal disruption of traffic. - magnusfideExplorer II

Clearly you weren't on I-10 in the panhandle after Hurricane Michael. Please leave the political bashing out this thread. The OP just wanted to know about the conditions on I-10. - agesilausExplorer IIINo politics involved. And sure there was damage on I-10 after that storm, which is a once a decade or more event. In fact the last time I recall major damage to I-10 was 30 or more years ago. After all the highway is far from the Gulf in most places. But I'll guess that if you travel I-10 in Florida today there will be no visible damage to the road surface. Unlike LA which never seems to fix their roads.

We drove it Dec. 4th and yes you can see much damage 60 miles west of Tallahassee to the city itself. It was awesome. There are whole forests with the trees sheared off about 30 feet up. There are many I10 signs that are not reinstalled and lie curled up in the ditches. There are some teams of people removing the dead trees and you can see fields of dead trees stacked 30 feet high. The RV camps along that route are gone or just partly open.
So to think everythings ok it is not. - agesilausExplorer IIIHmm I searched for I-10 road condition in Florida and found this: Navbug
It looks like it is open from Jax to Mobile with almost no delay. The only closures are some ramps in the Jax area.
Also there are some stories about that 80 mile stretch re-opening on October 11th. The storm hit the panhandle on October 10th so I'd say that is quick action. As for the trees, well heck even FDOT can't regrow 50 foot trees that quickly. Maybe they'll plant saplings but I have no idea what their plans are. The trees were there when I-10 was built. - tomman58Explorer

Not saying the road was delayed other than in LA where they are rebuilding the entire thing and rightfully so. that stretch I have driven for 10 years and it sucks. This time they look like they have a plan... we can only hope. I hope they have the I10 signs up as they were not all up a few weeks ago in the hurricane area.
