Mexican Insurance How Much $$

How much are you paying for Mexican insurance and what company are you with?

I just did an online quote with Sanborns and got the incredible price of over $980 for ONE MONTH! Same price as 6 months.

Any thoughts on what is going on here? This seems exceptionally high.

I did manipulate a few of the coverages to see what changed the price but it came down only slightly to $750 for 182 days (6 months)and over $900 for one year. This was achieved by lowering the value of my truck and trailer.

My Truck is a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 and my trailer is a 2004 Gulfstream Innsbruck. I valued them at $45,000 and $15,000 respectively in the original quote and at $33,000 and $10,000 in the second quote.

    We use Bonita West Insurance Services, do not have paper handy $ 450.00 US Dollars for one year for a 24 foot class C towing a small SUV , it is cheaper for one year than 180 days, monthly it is very expensive.

    Is that full coverage or only liability?

    If you have Progressive or Nationwide Insurance in the States, you may only need to purchase Mexico Liability Insurance. If You have either Progressive or Nationwide, verify with your Insurance Company first you do have the Mexico Comp & Coll coverage.

    No, the first thing I did was check my policy and it's territory is the US and Canada. NOT mexico.

    Asking what people are paying is a waste of bandwidth. Every poster has a different vehicle with a different value. Thus all prices will be different. You would be unable to compare. To get a good answer you need to ask a good question. Lewis and Lewis has a good reputation on this forum. You have an expensive truck and really need to find a good policy that will provide good coverage. They have a website. We have been using them since we first came to Mexico 25 years ago. You could also do a search on this forum as this subject comes up all the time.

    Every insurance policy is going to be different, unless you have a fleet of vehicles, my dad and my sister had the same model year and equipped vehicles and dads policy was less than sis, she called the agent and found out that there was a n age difference, dad was a more mature driver.

    Bonita West insures trough Lewis & Lewis.

    A quick look at quotes from Bonita West and from Lewis and Lewis indicates a vast discrepancy in their rates. For a truck and trailer valued at $75000 and a six month policy, BW wants $2876 (or $1983 for one year) while L&L wants $715. This is using the identical information on the vehicles on their websites "request for quote" pages, both using Qualitas.

    With all due respect I asked the question I wanted answered. By knowing the range of what some pay allows me to bracket the high and low and by knowing the company I may see a trend.

    It also may uncover other information that a too specific question may discourage.

    With all due respect here is your answer $100 to $3000. Do you really expect everyone to do your homework? Use the search engine and you will quickly see that there are about 4 agencies that are used by a lot of posters. They all have web sites where you can plug in your information and get a quote.
