From the other post I referenced above from the email and phone conversations with Aduana which seems to be the same place I am emailing trying to get this figured out.........
I then phoned Aduana and spoke to a fellow who identified himself as a Supervisor in the Vehicle Import area. He told me they are very aware of the situation as they are getting numerous complaints from RVers who are being refused TIPs at the border. He explained that it is NOT their intention to prohibit pickups over 7716 lbs as long as they are for personal, not commercial, use. He said the rules are being misinterpreted by the border people ( Banjercito) and we had a good discussion about GVWR and "cargo capacity".
"He said the rules are being misinterpreted by the border people"
This is what I am trying to figure out and get resolved. To get to that supervisor and get clear definitions of weight classifications in Spanish that somehow explains what GVWR and "capacidad de carga" mean. And to get a phone number we can post here that anyone stopped at the border for this can have the border guys call to get clarification of this rule.
As far as sticker and tags and labels showing GVWR and/or whatever else - that is what I am asking - can people go look in their trucks to see what stickers exist and what they say etc. or whatever. I DO NOT KNOW. I AM ASKING.
It does seem that the posts from last year did get somewhere with this but here it is again. So maybe it can be fixed again and something permanent can be figure out that can be posted here for the future or for people who will need it this year. The pictures I posted came from the same pickup. Maybe others have these - maybe not. I do not know. I am not near a car dealer or I would go ask them if I can look for any tags/labels/stickers related to this. Then maybe we can use whatever information we can find and use it in communications with the people at the other end of the email address - or some of you out there who are better with speaking Spanish than I am can call to speak with someone.
I doubt that anything affecting a few RV'rs is important to the Gov.. I am awaiting to see what happens @ Nogales this season. Will they give 3/4 ton and larger trucks a hard time?
"Waiting to see" does nothing to help. Based on the above posted info from last year they apparently do care somewhere in that office and someone is willing to get it fixed if we can just get through to them and figure it out. Some people wait all their lives and in the end find nothing happened - and nothing will happen if people do nothing.
