GMAC

To start off with GMAC is not GMAC any more it is National General. I did not know this till I posted a claim. On the 20th of June we left the RV park that we were staying in and two miles down on I5 the toad car burst into flames. It was a Jeep Rubicon was totaled I reported it to the insurance co and am still waiting to hear from them. They don't return my calls or seem to not care rather I set here in Wa. or can get on the road. When it was GMAC I had great service now it stinks.

  • It's called CW insurance or inc or something. They are brokers basically. It's not them insuring. You will have to call and get the quote. They have different companies to go through.

When we got our TT three years ago, we called them and the lady called back with a quote through allied. We found it fair and went with it. We renewed this year. A month ago, we were trading in the TT for a motorhome. We received the motorhome before they transported the TT from the beach (4 hrs away) so we kept insurance on it to make sure it was ok. When I called to get the insurance for the motorhome, we couldn't have them both on the same policy for some reason. Believe it is a nc thing. So they (allied) gave me the number back to the CW insurance people. Te lady quoted me through GMAC (even though I had allied). Not sure why, but it may be protocol and they get bigger pay out from them or something. When the quote was twice as high as we were told It would be around, I said no and she got a quote through allied which was half the price for the same insurance.

But all in all it's CW insurance (brokerage) and they can get quotes through several companies. Just ask.
  • Thanks Ron for telling me about this web site. I called GMAC about my claim this morning and left another message. To my supprise they rewturned my call and I was told that my claim had been sent to the closing department. They said that I would hear today or tomorow. And thank you Good Sam for your fast responce. :)

Give Allied (through CW) a go. It's a nationwide company. Rate was half of what we were quoted for "GMAC".

I'm Confused; CW &Good Sam are the same company, why would CW offer different insurance?
  • Brian... went to CW website and can't get it to display anything on rv insurance, much less Allied. I know FMCA uses the same GMAC/NG that Good Sam does.

  • Mozzy, please do let us know the outcome of Kat's request to NG. Many of us that have GMAC (now NG) are very much interested in the outcome. My policy is up Sept 30th and I will be looking elsewhere if this trend continues.

Hope it works out for you.

  • You can always change and then cancel your policy with NG if that is what you want to do you should get a refund on the unused portion that you paid for. No reason to wait until your policy expires.

  • Not trying to jump on the bash-wagon about NG. I recently switched from Progressive to GMAC (before it switched names) and when I went to pay online, I find that 1.) it's no longer GMAC 2.) they don't let me pay on-line. 3.) it took me four different people (on the phone) trying to find out about my policy.

I'll be switching again as soon as this policy runs out.
  • Mozzy,

I am so sorry to hear that they haven't gotten back to you. I have alerted National General's Customer Service department, and they should be contacting you soon.

  • I know this poster personally and am aware of their current problems. They have been waiting for two weeks now just for a return call from NG to get their claim process in gear so that they can get on with their lives. Marcus needs to help out here as it seems NG has no interest in providing quick and responsible service.

Is this delayed process what the rest of us can expect if we too have problems and need to get NG to take action? I sure hope not, as I (along with many others) will tend to find this lack of customer service to be what we can expect and cause a rapid decline of any future renewals.

Waiting two weeks is totally unacceptable.

    Ron
