GS Roadside Unassistance!

In the early hours of July 4 our RV broke down on US 412. Speed limit is 70 mph & biff rigs use the highway. We requested assistance through dispatch. After several calls & 3 hours we were told to sleep by the side of the road & call back at 8 am as no tow trucks were available. On the off chance that my AAA would cover the RV, we called them. Less than an hour later we were being towed. The driver indicated Good Sam had called him, but didn't like his quote. So, we have to sit in a potentially dangerous spot with 2 children on board because GS doesn't want to provide the services I paid for? Not only that, where is the concierge services to find us a place to go with the kids?

After the weekend was over, we contacted customer service on July 7. They finally talked to us last night, July 14. First, they tried to claim lack of tow drivers. That didn't work, though, when AAA could get one. It's all about the $$ GS didn't want to spend. They did promise to bring this to a meeting to discuss the failure of our roadside assist. At this meeting they will consider a refund, but only prorated? Tell me, what did I pay for that needs prorating? We would have been better off without it. The person who called has no authority to do anything & we weren't permitted to talk to someone who could.

So, what am *I* doing about it? Telling my story everywhere -- every forum where it's possible, letting all my friends know, & I filed a BBB complaint. Unfortunately, as I do that I discover my story is not rare. This is a common occurrence. Good Sam, you blew it with dispatch, but trying to justify the behavior is reprehensible. Putting people at risk so you can save a few bucks is really despicable. Who do you think would be contacting you if we'd been hit by one of the big rigs, that flew by at 70 mph, and one of the kids had gotten hurt. With your online reputation, this is active neglect, not an accident.
