06 HR ambassador electrical problem

When hooked to a 20 amp shore line my display does not show any amps being used and also shows 50 amp inbound power. None of the heavy appliances, a/c microwave etc work but most of the wall outlets are
live and the fridge is working. I start the genny and all works normally. Any suggestions please

The wall outlets may be getting power from the inverter... still sounds like a transfer switch problem. The common denominator between everything working on generator and not on shore power is the transfer switch. If you turn of the inverter, do you still have power and is the refer working on propane, not AC power?
  • from the manual http://janeandjohn.org/docs/EMSmanual.pdf
120 volts available at non-controlled appliances and receptacles. Controlled appliances
    do not operate.
    A. Check 120 volt circuit breakers in the distribution panel.
    1. Reset circuit breakers if necessary.
    2. Check for presence of voltage at branch circuit breakers with voltmeter.
  • Sounds like the EMS is shedding the large loads which could be normal.
Have you been out to see what happens when pugged into 50, and then30 amp shore powers?
Some discussion about resetting unit by removing 12 volt control fuse to EMS unit.
I could not locate manual, very little information on line from Intellitec.
  • usually when I plug into my home shore power the EMS will automatically show 30amp power incoming and would have to manually adjust it down to 20 amps, and it
would show 6-7 amps being used for the fridge float charge etc, now it shows nothing except 50amps no usage and I cant change the 50amps down to 30 or 20.
  • I have changed the 50-30 adapter and no change, the EMS system is Intellitec model 700. If the transfer switch is stuck in the genney position wher would I be getting power for the wall outlets from ?
  • In you're power panel, you're transfer switch may be stuck closed to the generator power side.
  • What make and model of your energy management system?
Sounds like it does not see the shore power. Do you have to manually select the amperage or is it set to auto?
  • First thing I would check is your 30 amp male to 50 amp female adapter.

The single hot in the 15/20 AND in the 30 amp end of the 30/50 should tie to BOTH hots in the 50 amp end of the 30/50 adapter.

Assuming you are safe working around 120 VAC: On the female end of the 30 amp male to 50 amp female:

Outer straight (either one) to center straight (neutral) or center round (ground) should show 120 VAC. Center round to center straight should show zero.
