- bansh4milExplorerUpdate after a weekend trip. I found that my inverter fo the batteries is the 1 blowing the breaker. It is a Inteli power 9100 model PD9155. Any idea what would cause this to blow the breaker?
- bansh4milExplorerthe breaker itself
- vtbigExplorerTo clarify...when you say the breaker is tripping are you talking about a circuit breaker or is it a breaker on a GFCI outlet? Big difference here...
- HeisenbergExplorerIn the left diagram the coil is 85 and 86 which is a hot and a ground. It sees power with key on. 30 and 87a is the coil de-energized position of the relay, the switch is closed. 30 would be power from the breaker and 87a runs to the tv. When the coil sees 12vdc the switch pulls over to 87 which in your case goes nowhere, in the real world it could send 30 to an indicator light saying TV off.
- HeisenbergExplorerA relay is initiated by an electromagnetic coil. A 12v signal goes to the coil which changes the position of the contacts/switches. In your case the coil is de-energized/key off and the hot wire from the breaker goes through a normally closed switch over to your tv outlet. When you turn the key on the coil is energized and it pulls that switch open.
When you turn the key on does the breaker trip then? If it does then the short is between the relay and the outlet. - bansh4milExplorerI disconnected the relay and it still does it. when you disconnect the relay, do you just remove the wires or do the the 2 wires going to the relay have to be connected?

I was trying to keep it simple and answer the "key on" loss of power. The circuit must pass thru contacts on said relay and something could be grounded where ever that relay is. Some use that area for storage against protocol. - bansh4milExplorerI will ohm it out and see what I get. I have narrowed it down to the wire. Everything else checks out.
- IvylogExplorer IIIAre you sure this is the only outlet that does not work? If so, then unplug everything from the outlet and disconnect the ground, the black and white wires at the breaker box. Ohm each wire to see if they are all shorted to ground. IF only the black wire is shorted then unlike what you'll hear in some future posts, use the unshielded ground wire as your white/neutral and the good white wire as your black wire hooked to the breaker. Do the same at the outlet. I know this is not to CODE, but how did we made it through many decades with only two wires in a circuit? The two items on this circuit are low amp items.

The relay shuts off the power to the TV. It should not cause a circuit breaker to trip.
I suspect that the 120 volt feed wire going to the TV is pinched and shorted out between the cabinet and the coach metal frame. It might even be a cabinet mounting screw that went through the wire during construction.
