1997 Daymon Daybreak no power

I have a 1997 Daymon daybreak. On a recent trip home . It lost power going up hills . I changed fuel filter but it didn't seem to help. It idles fine but seems to hesitate upon acceleration. It almost seems to surge up till hill under a load . I am not sure where to go with this ? Any help would be great
  • Check for codes anyway. It is possible that a code could be saved and no engine check light.
  • Yeah no engine light on . It did come on once and I was going to run the code but i disconnected the battery when I parked it . I forgot to retrieve the code . Drove it some since and the light hasn't come back on
  • Find a local qualified mechanic that does truck work. These are just the same as a farm truck, with a bigger body. No special RV knowledge required, just a good working knowledge of truck engines. Problem could be one of a lot of things, some bad, most not too bad. One thing I look for is a garage door and bay big enough to get the RV in. My mechanic does a lot of work on school buses, which are a lot the same.
  • I am guessing you have no engine check light!
Fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump.
  • Air filter looked good . Was one of the first things I checked
  • Should only have one on frame rail.
How is your air filter/ Clean and dry?
    Could be loosing fuel pump.
  • I never checked for one by the engine . It's on a Chevy chassis with a 454 engine . Don't remember seeing one when I looked quickly before
  • Does it have more than one fuel filter? Some have a filter at the engine and one in or near the fuel tank.

    What engine/chassis?
