2014 E450 trans fluid change manual error
So one of my motorhomes reached 30K miles and I went to the manual to see if I need to do the trans fluid flush.
Per the manual, 5 speed trannys change oil and filter at 60K.
Extreme use schedule is 30K for oil and filter but clearly stated FOR THE 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION.
I called Ford Motorhome to ask, and they told me:
- First, they reccomended 30K, to err on the safe side. When I said "OK, but what is the requirement" they could not answer. When I showed them the 4 vs 5 speed note they told me that those were wrong, 30K for both
- Second they told me that I needed to drain and change the filter. I asked if I was suppoused to flush it and they told me no. When I told them all other ford transmissions required a flush instead of a drain, they told me that yes, I needed to flush, not drain and to also change the internal filter.
I brought up the fact that changing the internal filter would force me to drain, they told me to drain, change filter and then flush.
At this point I explained them that their flush machine is by fluid volume, so a flush AND a drain is not physically possible. They did not know what else to tell me.
Does somebody know what the $#%&% procedure is? Looks like Ford doesn't.
Note: I went to the dealer, and as they don't service motorhomes, they could not tell me how to do it or sell me the filter...
