Ron
The transmission goes into lockup in all forward ranges. Lockup is based on the speed ratio between Input Speed (Engine and TC Pump Speed) and Output Speed (TC Turbine Speed). The transmission will automatically be in "Converter Mode" until the speed ratio is small enough to actuate this Lock Up clutch inside the Torque Converter. The transmission gives you variable torque multiplication in Converter Mode, through the Stator, and 1:1 in Lock Up Mode.
Does that help ??

Tiffin uses 3 Allison transmissions with their motorhomes. The 3000 is used in the Phaeton, and Allegro Bus lines, the 2500 is used in the Allegro Red series, and the Breeze started out with the 1000 but it has been upgraded to the 2100.
Hope that ends all of the speculation on which transmission.
To the OP, lockout usually refers to overdrive. If the transmission is hunting back and forth between 5th and 6th for example, you can lock out 6th gear and hold it in 5th.
Allegro Red built on a Freightliner.
Allegro Breeze built on a Power Glide Chassis - luvlabsExplorerTiffin uses 3 Allison transmissions with their motorhomes. I seriously doubt (but can be incorrect) that with only 240 HP, it is a 3000 series. - tarnoldExplorerOp again. Yes miss typed lock reference. Thanks Retired JSO, that manual link answered a lot of questions the salesman could'nt answer at our first meeting.
- pusherpilotExplorerUpdate. That term is a misnomer. Using the engine quoted this is most likely a MH3000 trans. This from the Tiffin site:
Exhaust Brake
Allison 6-speed Automatic Transmission with Lock-up
Air Ride Suspension
Full Air Brakes
PowerGlide Rear Engine Diesel Chassis with Navistar MaxxForce 7 Engine
Peak HP: 240 HP @ 2,600 RPM
Peak Torque (Lb. – Ft. Max Net): 620 @ 1,400 RPM
GAWR – Front: 8,500 Lb.
GAWR – Rear:
28 BR – 13,500 Lb.
32 BR – 15,000 Lb.
GVWR:
28 BR – 22,000 Lb.
32 BR – 23,500 Lb.
GCWR:
28 BR – 26,000 Lb.
32 BR – 28,000 Lb.
Wheel Base:
28 BR – 152"
32 BR – 202"
Ron - pusherpilotExplorerI think that is a misnomer. The term I'm used to hearing is "lockup" which means that the torques converter is locked in top gear for the best mileage. That means there is no slipage. I'll ask the question on the Allison forum.
Ron - FishinghatExplorer IIIf the engine is rated at 300 HP or so, then it is probably the 3060. The 3000 is the same transmission with five speeds instead of six. The five speed was used with the smaller Cummins ISB engine. The Cummins ISC and ISL were sold with the 3060. The ISM & ISX use the larger Allison.
As for the lockout, I don't know what that is. Could you be referring to the exhaust brake? - Retired_JSOExplorerThe Manual says it's a 3000 series. Power Glide Manual
Here is a list of Downloads from Allison
Manuals - wallynmExplorerTried to look it up but failed. Must be for gas or small diesel applications wnad work like a toe haul mode switch.
Changes shift point to higher RPMS.

Looking at an Allegro Breeze, and it advertises an Allison xmisson with lock out. What series Allison is this(1000..2000?). And what is lockout?
