Auto Park

After being unsuccessful in finding parts for the auto-park, we removed the cables from operating. Now the dash shows the auto-park light on all the time as well as the I & P lights.

Is there a way to shut these lights off? Is there a fuse to totally disengage the auto-park system?

Thanks
  • If it is any help, my fuses are under the instrument panel on the left side. It is listed on the information sticker visible when the instrument panel is raised.
  • Rock Auto does not have parts.

I am not really interested in replacing any parts on the Auto-Park. My mechanic gave up too.

All I want to do is find and remove the fuse and/relay that operates the Auto-Park and will turn off the idiot lights on the dash.
  • I wish I could tell you how to turn the lights off. you might remove the fuses.
I know the auto park unit is located on the right side. However, the best and easiest place to release the park brake is exactly where I suggested. I have replaced the light switch (the gray one), the RGS (the green one) and rebuilt the actuator all of which are in the box on the right side of the motor home. When I had a freeze up on the road I released the system form the location on the left side of the motor home.
    I'm sorry I couldn't help.
  • bowalker -- our auto-park assembly is on the right side near the step. I don't think the auto-park was ever considered an emergency brake but something that stopped the MH from rolling when in engaged.

darsben1 -- I checked that site before and they do not carry the cables.

We installed a 'hydra-lock' system on the front brakes and it works great.

I am not worried about the auto-park system now -- just want to turn the darn lights off by pulling a fuse or relay.
  • I don't know what motor home you have. But, to release the auto park, chock your tires both ways so it doesn't roll either way. Now, scoot underneath the motor home right behind the left front wheel, scoot past the frame and look up. You will see a clevis with a pen. Have someone inside the motor home with their foot on the brake pedal. Have them turn the ignition on but not cranking and pull the shift lever out of the park position. This will release the tension on the clevis pen. Remove the carter pen and pull the pen out. If the engine is hot, you can burn your hand or arm on the exhaust pipe. Now you can drive but remember you have no park and no park or emergency brakes.
