Awning gust lock

I have a 06 National Sea Breeze I have seen a Locking assembly that goes on the roof and goes around the awning in the center to lock it so the wind going down the highway wont blow it open! My question is are they easy to install and it seems soft right at the bend in the roof on the edge is there wood there under the fiber glass to bolt too to hold the unit down?
  • You could try this method and it's free.

    1. Place tip of awning pull rod in end slot of awning.

    2. Velcro or bungee other end of awning rod to awning arm.

  • I installed the 'Awning Lock' (http://awninglock.com/) on a previous coach after having the awning unfurl while on the road! The roller was still tight to the rig, but it unrolled and the awning material ripped and flapped. After that incident, I installed the awning lock (along with new fabric) and had no further problems for several years of travel. I purchased and installed one on my current rig when I got it and I am happy with the added security for the awning. It was easy to install and does provide additional peace-of-mind.
  • I had similar question and got these results. Might help with your question... http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/27719957/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1.cfm

I liked idea of not making any holes in rv and only the awning pole that gets drilled. But even better was suggestion of using the hole already in awning pole already there. IMO

After reading your post again, I'm not sure if your talking about those support braces that help in transit or a lock that is usually mounted at end of awning. Anyway hope link helps.

At any rate drilling holes in rv always concerns me.
