Two things....they WERE selling some lots a couple years ago. Not sure what their status is at this time. That said, IF they were/are selling lots, they MAY have a set of CC&Rs that spell out age of coaches. For someone in the office to accept an older coach in violation of those CC&Rs could put them in jeopardy with the association. I would not lie. We prefer Ponchartrain Landing anyway.....Dennis

I think an emailed picture would go a long way even if they have an age limit on paper. It is probably just a way for them to have a policy in writing when they want to turn some rust bucket away without someone taking personal offence.

And speaking of things in writing, if it is an age cut-off policy I would much prefer to have their pre-approval in writing than rather just talking to someone on the phone. The nice person who you spoke with on the phone may not be there when you roll in and no one wants either a needless confrontation nor to be turned away after a long drive. I'm sure pulling up the email would clear things up in a hurry.

At the risk of putting incorrect words in the mouth of a park owner/operator, I doubt there are many with 10 year age limits who would turn away 20 year old coaches that show great pride of ownership. And while there are MANY great folks with old RVs that do show their age, I sympathize with park operators who worry about the minority that may not be such great folks. Meaning, it may not be simply a case of being snooty as there may be some merit in the concept that if someone doesn't show their own rig respect, they may not be as inclined to show respect to the property of other guests.

Moreover, I suspect that some guests think they may be no safer than they would on skid row if a bunch of coaches in the park look like the equivalent of a skid row dwelling. Such a perception could hurt business. If you appreciate what I'm getting at.

Again, I might be completely off base, but these are my guesses why some parks have age limitations on guests' coaches.

when we were there....we weren't necessarily the "lowest rent" in the park but we were far from the fanciest ....we're always clean and shiny (save for the love bugs we massacred).

everyone in the park was friendly - campers & staff included. folks were walking their dogs, picking up after them, talking to each other...the atmosphere was great ! More than one person (in a 1/2 million dollar + coach) came over to talk to us about our coach...some even sat down for a beverage and a chat.

One couple, from Australia, was in a rental & had problems...we loan 'em tools and gave 'em a hand, we had no issue with anyone and everyone was polite and courteous (which we could say that for some state/public parks).

I wouldn't condone a lie, but send them a picture of your coach and tell them how proud you are of the work you have done.

Personally, I don't like them asking this, it seems elitist, but it's their park and they can limit who uses it and who doesn't. It may end up hurting them in the long run.

I sent them an email and Facebook message asking them what if any model or year limitations they had.
A phone call would be quicker i suspect.

We were there 2 years ago and our coach was 13 yrs old. They might have asked us the age, but I don't recall. I've had other places ask the year of our coach and I just tell them what it is and that it is well maintained... never been turned down. We now have a 2013 coach, so we are good for a few years !
FQRV is a great place to stay if you are visiting the FQ. Easy walk to all the action.

We've stayed there at least three times. I don't recall them asking my coach age.

My coach turns ten this year so I'd be interested in what they tell you.

we've stayed there twice - really nice place (don't let the location scare you), we felt completely safe & as close as it was to i10 we barely noticed and we slept perfectly fine.

i recall them asking the make & year - but we're 10yrs old (don't look it).
I'd ask them why they need the year and if there is a "cut off" or limit...then you can base your answer on that ;)
