- klutchdustExplorer IIUpdate: Someone sent me a PM today so I should reply to everyone kind enough to help with advice. We purchased the unit, 2375 miles to drive home. Everything is exactly as stated
great coach. Two trips already camping on the beach, one on Camp Pendleton marine base and one we just returned from this morning in Ventura. Now after a nice soapy bath
for the coach it will go to the rear yard until next trip. - bigcitypopoExplorer IIShare the pics if you can... Maybe we can help spot a problem ... So you are better informed
- cgmartineExplorerI sincerely hope the motorhome is to your satisfaction. I also had a lot of internet photos to look at, and the motorhome appeared to be in pristine condition. But there is nothing like looking at it up close and personal. Good luck and safe driving to California!
- klutchdustExplorer IIThanks, private sale so not concerned with the local dealers.
- SharalExplorerI am in the Cities area and I wholeheartedly advise you to avoid Shorewood RV in Ramsey (northwest side of metro) at all costs. My mom bought her RV there and has service done by them. I am not impressed. I also considered buying from them, but when they flat-out lied to me (told me document fees on the invoice paid state patrol fees, seriously guys!). I used to sell motorcycles and I know that is a load of phooey!
I don't know much about Pleasureland in Ramsey (just down the street from Shorewood RV), so I can't say good or bad. Their sales guy seems okay, but that's not a good indicator of service dept guys.
Hilltop RV in Fridley (also north side) seems okay sales guy-wise, but I am only buying a car dolly from them. I am buying my own rv from a private seller, whom I know.
I know there is an RV dealer on the south end of town (Shakopee), but I don't know much about them, other than they seem to handle TT's more than motorized units.
I wish I could be more helpful right now. If you like, send me a message and I'll see if I can find out more info for you before you get here. I've marked this post, so I should get notifications if there is a new reply for this thread. I'm new here also, so I'm still learning how this forum works.
I hope the unit is everything you hope for! - klutchdustExplorer II

To the OP: My sincere advise to you is: Don't do it!! A couple of months ago I saw a 2004 American Tradition motorhome on EBay that looked gorgeous. The narrative that accompanied stated it was in supreme condition. My wife and I flew out to Fort Lauderdale to buy it. It would not even run and it was in despicable shape, with large delaminated areas. I was irate and walked away. We wasted close to $1,500 on that trip. I now swear that I will not go anywhere more than 100 miles to see a motorhome. Not saying this could happen to you, but surely there are others closer to California and just as good.
Well we are leaving on the 9th with a one way ticket. The amount of pictures of the coach show no wear whatsoever. This is an 09 Winnie Itasca 28B with 18000 miles. If the
owner, Mike, doctored the pictures then he is pretty good at photoshop. After looking nationwide for a coach specifically with the features I want this coach has them
plus a few more. The price is hard to turn away from also. IF I have any reason to feel this coach was misrepresented I will simply enjoy Minneapolis with my wife, book
a flight home and look further. I prefer original owner verses a coach on a dealers lot that may have come from an auction or repo. People that know their coach is going to be repo'ed
rarely change the oil, keep service records or basically could care what happens to the piece. I have looked local and I am not happy with what I have found. If a used RV salesman's lips are moving
then he is most likely lying. Our first experience with Mike Thompson in Fountain Valley was terrible. The salesman was rude because I asked too many questions, was rude when we decided to leave
and basically appeared hung over. What a jerk. The second salesman we dealt with was great, helpful and knowledgable, unfortunately he didn't have what I wanted.Spending this amount of money I
will not compromise. I look forward to giving you all a report after the 2000 mile test drive. - cgmartineExplorerTo the OP: My sincere advise to you is: Don't do it!!
