Inside step cover

My inside step cover stop working, the motor runs but the step just slides in & out by hand.. Any ideas, it looks like a nut or a pin is missing
  • That happened to me. Found there was a nut that held female thread bracket in place on cover that worked loose and the bracket was able to spin freely. I threaded the bracket back to the end of the threaded rod then refastened it to the step cover and tightened the retaining nut. (Not the clearest of explanations but if you pull out the cover, lift it you will see the parts I mentioned)

    Who makes the coach?
Ours is an air powered cylinder. The rod to the end of the step has a hinge threaded onto the end of the rod. It is held to the step cover at the end by a clevis or large cotter pin.
Ours came off the threads. It is not to wholly difficult to extend the cylinder as it is in the closed door position and reaching in disconnect the hinge and thread it back on and hook it back on the step.
    This is a Fleetwood.
  • See if you can see any of the push/pull assembly from under the step cover when the cover is extended by hand. My air operated one had wood screws that pulled out of the leading edge of the step cover.
