Jack Antenna

Took the OEM antenna off and replaced it with the new Jack Antenna. Read nothing but great reviews about it, so I bought one. I received 12 channels before with the old antenna, now with the new Jack Antenna I get 12 channels.. :( (no change). Has anybody else purchased one of these and had any better luck? Thanks Roy

The Jack antenna greatly improved reception when I am at my stick house. I am in a fringe area south of Buffalo, NY in the hills and can receive stations that I could not receive with my old batwing antenna. Check the following web site and input your info and see what the map says you should be able to receive. http://www.homeantenna.org/digital-antenna-reception-map.html. You might be able to only pull out 12 stations when using a big "deep fringe" antenna at your location.

Thanks great web site. I put in my zip code and there are only 12 channels available in my area.. That explains that problem. :)
  • My batwing wouldn't get much of any reception at all. Then it was damaged in a hi-wind area. I replaced it with the Jack (right after they went on sale) and was surprised at the improvement. It's also smaller so I won't have the profile out there in the wind that I did with the Batgwing. Also if I'd tried to get the "Wingman" clip on to enhance digital reception with the Batwing I'd have hit the a/c shroud when I tried to crank it down. Seen quite a few of those with that problem.

Did you set the TV to rescan for available channels?

It really depends on where you're at. If only 12 channels are available, that's all you'll get with either antenna.

Having said that, have you checked any online resources for transmitter location and distance? I normally get the best reception by pointing the arrow of the Jack opposite the transmitter I'm trying to get.

You might be right maybe there is only twelve channels available in my area. Looks like I would have picked up a few more though from farther away.
