Monaco Diplomate2013 VS Newmar Duchstar 2011 3734 with 1900M

I am a new to class A,but i drove 2007 sun seeker. Please give me your feed back on construction ,engine,Newmar claims COMFORT DRIVE, etc..If you had to choose between these two coaches what would you choose and why? Don't want to potentially make a very expensive mistake .With my 2007 sunseeker with 67000miles,the trade difference is $146000 to buy 2011 Newmar Duchstar3734 used ,but it has only 1900 miles.Monaco Diplomate 2013 DFT 43' MAY be $200,000 with my trade(2007 sunseeker). Please advise which one, I would really appreciate it

  • I would not base any decision on what ANY dealer said....ever!

For you info, Navistar has recently sold Monaco (and its siblings) to another company....actually, the one that currently owns Fleetwood.

I drove a 2011 Newmar Ventana 43 footer with the Comfort drive (it also had the tag axle) and was very much impressed with the ease of driveability and its smooth/quiet ride. The Dutch Star is the next step higher in the Newmar hierarchy and should be a very good mh.

My current MH is a Monaco product and even tho it is an entry level dp, it has been a very good mh with no major problems and only a couple of minor ones. As for Navistar Monaco products, I've heard only good things about them. I haven't had the opportunity to drive a 10-bag tag axle Monaco, but I bet it would be just as nice as the Ventana I drove.

If you have the $$, I would definitely go with the newer unit.

  • Hands down the Newmar! Navistar just sold Moaco to the parent company of Fleetwood. The jury is out on warranty issues. If that Monaco has a Maxxforce engine the run, don;t walk away!
  • Thank you for your reply and feedback,i really do appreciate it.I just forgot that newmar has hydronic hot, also has 400h ISL engine.Icalled the one dealer in Canada i know ,he said Monaco use to be very good name ,but since they bought out by Navistar the quality of construction and everything gone to....Newmar like u driving a Mercedes.
  • Newmar's Comfort Drive is very attractive but in this case I'd take the Diplomat without question.
The Diplomat's tag axle trumps the CD and so may other features like Aqua Hot, besides being a 2013 model. Mileage is irrevelant but being 2 years newer is another factor in the choice of the Monaco.
    Good luck
