Oregon RV site Ownership

I must admit I've never entertained the thought of owning a lot, or even a longer term rental as we tend to move around a lot. However after rolling for 13 years with stops in an apartment in our hometown for the summer the prospect of having a place to call our own that we could rent out when not using it is attractive. The only problem being "where"?

I cannot sublet my apartment short term nor would I want to, but an RV lot is a different kettle of fish. I'll need to think on the subject. Thank you for asking the question and for the answers I have seen so far.

Many Snow Birds in the south find it's a cost effective retirement option for them to have RV Lots in FL for the Winter, and In the southern Appalachian Mountains of Georgia for the summer. Paradise Valley RV Campground is a private condominium Campground in Cleveland Georgia. There are 290 sites in the community. The campground is unique among campgrounds we've stayed at in our travels. Many even most of the owners are there only during the summer season, and traveling or staying in Florida the rest of the year. Other folks find it practical to have a usable place to park their RV year around rather than paying storage fees. Owner Fees are currently less than $500 per year and property taxes are only a couple of hundred dollars.

Sales taxes and RV registration fees are the motivator to look at ownership in Oregon. Considering upgrading my 11 year old rig, and don't want to get killed by Colorado taxes again.

Thanks to all for your feedback. Crown Villa looks very nice, but does not allow ownership. Was hoping for a Pacific Shores quality RV park inland.

And I forgot to add, I've heard of people trading with other owners too. For example you have a lot in Oregon and somebody else has one in Florida and you agree to a swap for a couple of months. There are a lot of reasons to buy one and probably just as many not to buy one. All about personal preference.

There could be lots of advantages. When you aren't using it, then it can be rented out. When you want to use it then it's available even if it's 4 of July or Labor Day or whenever you want to camp. If you full time and spend months at a time in it then it's probably a huge savings over renting a space. And as long as you don't pay too much for it, your equity should always be there if you want to sell. And of course this all depends on how much these places charge for the maintenance fees.

I agree with the wind in Newport, Oregon! We were there onetime and the wind drove us off the beach. We went into town to Walmart and it was calm and about 90*. Good Luck on the lot site, not my cup of tea. I don't want to spend my RV time in one spot too much of the U.S. for me to see.

We found Pacific Shores to be nice but yes, windy and damp. Don't know if I would want to be there for more than a few days.
I'm not sure if they sell lots but Crown Villa RV Resort in Bend is very nice. I know they do monthly rentals.
