Passenger electric seat not working??????????

OK, so I just purchased this RV about 500 miles from home and had no problem bringing it home as everything was working, including the passenger electric seat. Now, just like that it's not working.. There is no power going to the seat itself, no fuse blown, no breaker, Drivers side is working fine.. There is a black wire and white wire going to the seat that should be powering it but there is no power to them. I tried to follow them and have no idea where they go??:h It appears that they go to the back somewhere in the chassis area. Anyone on this forum have a clue to where they might lead, there is such a cluster of wires that there is no way to know where they lead by following them. And yes, every wire seems to be black or white throughout the whole unit. IF there would be a fuse I would think the passenger side would not be working as well, but it's working fine. I'll bet I spent 5 hours on trying to find the problem and have gotten nowhere. I'm so frustrated over this it's not even funny.. If I can't find something soon, there might be an added wire that will go from the drivers chair to the passenger chair very soon to get power to it..Any thoughts?? The MH is a 2000 Newmar Dutchstar with the Spartan chassis..

Don't have a clue as to what age, brand, or model your RV is.

If it's more then a couple years old, putting 5 hours into chasing an electrical wire wouldn't be fun. Why not just run a jumper wire over to the drivers seat? Or run a new wire with an inline fuse to the nearest 12V?

I did post it way last on the o/p.. You wouldn't have seen it if you didn't read to the bottom, which I hardly ever do..
  • I plan on running a jumper wire from the drivers seat over to pass. seat.. Seems to be the simplest way. Thanks for all your help..
  • I had what sounds like the exact same problem a couple of years ago -- but in a Mandalay on Freightliner chassis, so little in common with yours. I could track the wires through the floor, but then they disappeared, and I couldn't identify a fuse or other issue. I ended up running a jumper under the floor from the driver's side, and have had no problem since.

  • Do you need the ignition switch on for the seat to work? Some items in cars and RVs are designed to only operate when the ignition switch is turned on to keep from running the battery down.
  • Without a wiring schematic, it becomes a matter of trial and error to track down the proper circuit in the fuse panel. A multimeter, time and patience are what you need....... Maybe a call to Newmar can get you at least pointed in the right direction?

On my coach, I have two connectors for each seat. One is after the power wire comes up out of the floor and the other is right at the back of the seat control switches. My entire wiring assembly will unplug from behind the switches on the side of the seat. If that connector, or the other connector, is loose, my seat will not work. You may also try using a voltmeter to see if 12 volt power is getting to the seat. If not, then you are looking for the fuse, which the manufacturers have a way of hiding. On my Monaco coach, I have six different fuse boxes that contain 12 volt fuses. Some fuses are under the dash, some near the main electrical control panel, under the hood, and in the basement compartments.

I have no power coming from the wires at the seat at all. I disconnected the harness and nothing. I've checked all the fuses that I know of , they are on the dash, in front generator compartment in the back compartment right in front of the battey compartment and in the powercord compartment and found nothing. :(
