Replacing motor in Lippert slide

I need to replace a motor in my Lippert slide mechanism. It had a wire detach a quit working. I found this video by Lippert on how to do it but when you get to the point where they just lift the motor out mine does not lift out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DviEbWT3lUo&t=107s

Any ideas? It is in the full wall slide of a 2013 Palazzo and is a High Torque motor in case that is different from the standard. The slide is all of the way in.
  • I went back and watched the video and you are correct that he mentions the screw. But that one mention is all that he does. I feel like he should have shown removing and replacing the screw on the outside of the coach to be clear about it. Anyway, I do appreciate the help.

Thanks! I do have the outside screw, was able to remove it and get the motor out! That seems like something that should have been mentioned in the video. I am so glad that I did not force it without asking someone with more experience.

My motors have been replaced once with high torque motors so I really want the motor in my hand while ordering to be sure that I get the right thing. If they just look it up in the parts manual for the coach they will send the wrong thing. I don't know how much time I will have tomorrow to work on it and my wife wants to go camping next weekend so I have to keep things moving.

Actually, I found some on Ebay and have them on order, hopefully will have them by Thursday.

The video shows and mentions that screw in the first 15 seconds of the video. Doug

I got the slide out a couple of inches and the motor moves fairly freely an eigth of inch or so but then stops and I cannot move it any farther, even tapping it moderately with a hammer. I guess that I just need to wait until Tuesday and see if tech support can give me any worthwhile suggestions on how to proceed. I may even have to get the new motor to see how this one attaches. I was hoping to get the old motor out and have it in my hand when ordering the new one to be sure that I could get all of the numbers off of it.

The other post reminded me of the set screw on the OUTSIDE. You must get the room out at least 6 to 10 inches to remove the outside screw. THAT screw is what keeps the motor from rotating and keeps it DOWN in its holder. I assumed you had already removed that screw somehow. if you look at the outside seal about 4 inches down from the top you will see a silver square headed screw head. That screw MUST be removed. Doug

  • We had a motor/slide problem on Itasca meridian. I did not watch the video you have referenced. But on ours one had to remove a screw to get the motor out. It was only accessable from the outside. Since your slide is in, I am not sure if your mounting is the same as I had to deal with.
  • You HAVE to release the tension on the slide room. If you do NOT, you will never get it out and installing the new one will be impossible. Just extend the slide in override mode about 1 inch. Then, take 2 or 3 people and manually PUSH out the slide where the defective motor is that 1 inch or so. Once you get it out that 1 inch, the Motor will be free to lift out. Doug

I have done it mildy but I may have to get more agressive. I just want to be sure that I am doing the right thing before I break something.
