Safety Mods - mechanical and electronic gadgetry additions
What type of mods have others done to your motorhomes to assist with safety. It could be things to reduce stress, help document, assist in control, etc. Hopefully they're things which make your driving more relaxed rather than something which causes more concern
Here are few things I have done and are considering or have concerns with.
Addition this weekend of a dash cam. This serves a couple of purposes. One is documentation in case of a collision not cause by me. Way too many times we have had close calls by someone doing something that causes issues. It would be invaluable in cases where you might need to prove your innocence. Two it serves as a platform to video trips you wish to review later as many times your too busy with your eyes on the road to absorb everything as it goes by. Too many times I've had the DW say "look at that" but I can't because the moment won't allow it. Later that evening or when we are settled in I can transfer to my laptop and review anytime I wish - over and over again.
Will be adding a Blue Ox Tru center for piece of mind in blow out situations and to take more of the fight out of the steering while driving, due to crown in the road or winds, etc.
Tire pressure minders are a consideration but wonder if I'd be diverting some unneeded attention to that watch pressures.
Better GPS. The one which came in our MH is a Tom-tom module integrated into the dash monitor. The issue I have is, it can be removed (module) to update the maps but my Vista laptop won't link up to the Tom-Tom site to do it. So I update my removable window mount and attach it. I run them both using the one which seems more accurate. So I'll probably update to a removable GPS that will give traffic updates and other info as well that has it all integrated into the unit ( no antennas ). Which do you use?
Wiper blades? Are there any that are better than the rest? Mine need replacing.
