demon.....I doubt that you're dealing with a Samsung owned/operated repair facility. Yes, you will call Samsung and they will connect you to a local/authorized repair facility. The repair facility which can be John's Auto repair or George's used appliances is the one you're having difficulty with, not Samsung. Ask Samsung to select another repair facility.
It's like saying all Chevrolet's are junk because you had a bad experience with a dealership.
Even if the Samsungs have a 1%-3% problem rate, they're still head and shoulders above a Norcold. I can buy three Samsungs for the price of a Norcold.
Did not mean to infer that Samsung owned or operated the repair service. It is an independent contractor, but it is the one they will call on your behalf. My second go around with this contractor was worse. The first "dispatcher" said it would charge $100 to diagnose the problem. The second dispatcher told me it would be $180. Since I was out of warranty by one month I decided to try locally. Many places indicated they did not service Samsung. Finally found one and they indicated they knew what was wrong, but a diagnosis call was %95.
Tech came today and the problem was as they thought, a frozen drain in the defrost system. He fixed the problem and made an interesting little addition to the defroster. He indicated that Samsung is actually aware of the problem and has a repair kit for same. So, long story, but the bottom line for me is, Samsung is not being very honest with their customers, and their contracted repair company - well, I cannot offer a G-Rated comment about them. By the way, total bill from today was $147.
