- JimM68ExplorerOurs has ceramic tile on the main floor.
The big slide has carpet. just a 6" smidge on most of it, but under the dinette is fully carpeted (can you say stupid?)
I don't have too much problem with the smidge, we HATE the carpeted floor under where we eat.
I'd love to find a good way around it. - lunch_surferExplorerWhere their is a will there a way. Any slide can scratch the floor either directly or indirectly. I was in a 1/2 million dollar Newmar that had these in it from factory to use on some high end marble floor. If you want to save your flooring then watch this video.

I been using these Slide Out Slickers for years. The way my HWH level floor slide works I would scratch gouge the floor without them. Seems like a easy solution.
I do not like carpet is why I when to nice engineered hard wood on all my non-tile floors in my bus and my stick home, but that is me......to each his own. - 1BryNelsonExplorer

My dealership....if I DID make the move to vinyl/laminate...and it DID scratch the surface...they would most likely make a good buck repairing and putting new carpet down.
I don't they THEY are the fools............................
I've been in a lot of motorhomes. And I mean a lot! Dealerahip doesn't want to deal with replacing flooring or whatever their reason for saying don't. I haven't seen a motorhome with slides that I wouldn't replace the carpet with laminate flooring. In fact I know a refurbisher of moho's here. He puts laminate in everything he buys to resell. EVERY MOTORHOME HE BUYS TO RESELL!
I like the hard flooring rather than laminate so I went with the Alluer - ernieeExplorerI add a piece of plywood to the slide and use a stair nose molding. I use a piece or 2 of vinyl planks to have the slide glide on top of those. Most dealers don't want to fool with flooring.

I questioned the removal of (slide)carpet on my 2001 gasser. The dealership told me not to...as the sliding mechanism would scratch any vinyl/laminate replacement.
FWIW.
I just laugh at that. Look at my coach descrition. 1999 38 ft with 2 sides. Kitchen/Living Room and Queen Bed. No scratches, mares or marks on the Allure flooring with the 1/8" lexicon below. So I would say "your" dealerahip doesn't know what they're talking about. Infact they are fools. - jerseyjimExplorerI questioned the removal of (slide)carpet on my 2001 gasser. No- I add wood to the slides
Ernie, when a coach (like mine) has a flat-floor slide with a 2" or so wide nylon ramp onto which the slide climbs when stored, how do you hide that ramp if you cover the slide floor with wood? If you leave some wood to overhang/hide that ramp, what keeps it from snapping off when the slide is retracted and you step on the overhang? - ernieeExplorerNo- I add wood to the slides
- 1BryNelsonExplorerI replaced all the flooring, carpet and vinyl with Allure flooring from Home Depot. Did it myself, had to cut and lay 1/8" lexicon first to cover the coach to chassis bolts. Love it and the total cost was $630. Two slides work great with new flooring.
