I've never changed my Allison Tranny fluid or filter since my coach was new 12 years ago! I thought I read a post from Bumpy a few weeks ago that it should be done at 25,000 miles? I change my motor oil and filter every 10,000 miles or once a year.
I believe with the 1000MH transmission it was recommended that you change the screw on filter at 5000 miles and then again at 30,000 miles. The internal filter gets changed at overhaul.
Your transmission came with DexIII which does not last as long as Transynd. Transynd is what Allison recommends now for your transmission and it will extend your fluid change interval to more than double that of DexIII but it takes two changes to get all of the old DexIII out to use the new change interval.
I did notice that after I changed to Transynd that my transmission runs cooler in the Western mountains.
O would say that 295 extends your change interval by about 4-5 times
Not on the first change according to Allison. Most people change and then drive for 25,000+ miles before that change again to have mostly Transynd fluid.
Allison transynd 295 oil is good for 300K miles/48 months/6000 hours normal duty so no you don't change this stuff at no 25K miles - rgatijnet1Explorer III

When I looked intoit , " experts"advised annual analysis and most likely you'll never ever change the trans fluid ..... motor home use is not considered severe service. This from a Allison service tech.

- usersmanualExplorerYes I concede it may be of value I ran some fiction numbers and now it makes sense about what the manual says

Here you go. Just answer the questions on this Allison site: Service intervals
this is useless for a MH.
Some people consider a MH as severe duty in which case this give good service intervals. If they recommend a certain schedule for a commercial vehicle you can bet that it is more than sufficient for a MH. Thanks so much for your valuable input. :B
whatever your happy with I don't see it as a useable tool for a MH that only goes 6000(eg) miles in a year.
A MH is far far removed from severe duty that I know
295 oil is good for 300K there is the 5 year rule if your into time factors(iam not) I do believe the oil filters first time around is in the 50K mile range
Had you run the numbers in the link that I gave it would have recommended 300,000 miles OR FOUR years if they had 295 fluid and 75,000 miles or THREE years for the filter change. I'm guessing the OP does not have an owners manual or he could have looked this all up himself. - usersmanualExplorerok

Thanks so much everyone. I have an appointment Monday at Coach care to Winterize I'll have them service the transmission ,the engine oil and all filters .
u have only 32000 miles on it? you said u changed "several times" already; A ISL can go 20000 miles on oil change;
so how could it need a oil change already??
The manual for my ISL said to change the engine oil at 20,000 miles or annually, which ever came first.
yes iam well aware of that.mine does too. means nothing really Cummins say 20000 miles so U cant tell me that if u go only 4000 miles and its a year you have to change the oil.If you look cummins and Allison always put a time factor in there just to cover their butts. Iam a believer in looking after stuff but sometimes you have to have the ability to read between the lines so to speak
I presently change mine every 3 years or 15K miles
