- Bill_SatelliteExplorer II3 days ago I have my Cruise-Air A/C system recharged. It's been a couple of years so I figured it had been leaking for some time. 1 day ago I needed a recharge again. OK, I have a serious leak somewhere. I ordered a leak detector and started in. I found the leak (I'm pretty sure) and called the service man again. All seems to be OK except for the $500+ dollars missing from my checking account. The DW stayed cool all night so, no matter what, like if pretty good!
- TrackrigExplorer IIRepaired the refer top vent cover today.
Arrived yesterday in Tallahassee, FL yesterday and while filling the MH with diesel I looked up and noticed the top refer vent cover was half off and hanging over the side so I climbed up and removed it - had a mile to go to the RV park.
On further inspection today, there were two problems. When someone had the top off before, they remounted it crooked so that only three of the four screws made contact and they used the wrong screws. They used black sheet rock screws that rust easily. One of the three screws that had made contact had rusted and broke in half so that only left two screws and they were loose from flapping in the wind.
Four new #12 x 3" stainless screws from HD and we were back in business.
Bill - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IINow just imagine how much less work you would have had to do if you had just used that air pressure to bleed all of your water lines and not added that purple stuff to all of your lines! A splash of anti-freeze in the j-traps and you would have been done for the Winter. In the Spring you just fill the fresh tank and hit the road.
- Jim_NormanExplorerWell today I de-winterized the rig. Flushed out the water lines, the water heater, the icemaker, the washing machine, the tank, the water pump and the filters. Also added a handy dandy glove holder in the wet bay. It is actually a small plastic back holder where one would normally stuff all those plastic bags one brings home from shopping. Well I always head out to dump and forget the disposable gloves. Now I have at least a dozen pair stored right where they are needed. I also found a nice plastic holder at Ikea that will hold a Soft Soap pump bottle. That is mounted int eh wet bay as well. RIg came with one of those old fashioned inverted soap dispensers. the kind you tap your hand up underneath and it is supposed to deposit the right amount of soap, well it doesn't do that well and it also leaks all over, so that is fixed, changed, gone. Found a few plastic, wire and teak wood baskets and gadget holders to put in the medicine chest so everything isn't just sliding around.
Still have to get an air chuck and valve to put into the air supply chuck so when I try to hook up or remove my air hose I am not fighting 125 plus pounds of air pressure.

Update: Phoned Velvac Monday morning. They said that they would ship out the correct glass that same day. It arrived here in the Campground in Puerto Vallata midday today! 48 hours! And no charge.
But I haven't opened the box yet! :@
Well I WAS going to install the new mirror glass and backing frame today. The package from Velvac was shipped from Wisconsin to Puerto Vallarta early last week, arrived here Friday evening.
$171.04 USD for expedited shipping and handling it arrived here with an additional 129 pesos (about 16 USD) in brokerage and import duty.
Opened the package this morning to find that they had shipped the wrong glass! They shipped the plastic frame for the large one but shipped the small convex mirror. AND I had e-mailed them this photo showing what I needed! :S - Canadian_RainbiExplorer

We did that a year and a half ago. The original mirror shattered but remained attached to the backing plate. Duct tape held it all in place--and I could even use the mirror, more or less, for the rest of the drive to Zihuatanejo where I glued a new mirror over it.
That story and this is on our here, with photos
This time it was that "temporary" repair which failed grazing a gravel truck mirror last month taking the mirror mounting plate with it and now the only thing to glue a mirror to is that white plastic ring in the photo. Not sure how well the glue would hold, AND be able to remove to put the right parts back on. Gluing to the outer housing won't work as it would be aimed too high.
Good news, Valvac is shipping the new mirror glass at no charge, should be here in a week or so.
And that blog link reminds me that I better get off my butt and get the blog up to date! - ealyon1ExplorerMy husband and I just traded in our 2012 Jayco Greyhawk class C for a 2005 Tiffin Phaeton class A in preparation for going full time at the end of the year. The Greyhawk just didn't have enough space for us to live in it comfortably.
We already have some plans in mind for changes in the furniture layout. We'd like to remove the dinette booth and replace it with a desk, remove the jacknife sofa and put an entertainment center in it's place, and put either a couple of recliners or a small reclining sofa opposite (that sofa has already been removed).
I don't know whether we need to go to a company that does rv remodeling, or if we can do some of it ourselves. I suspect that we will not be able to remove the sofa without professional help, as it will likely need to go out a window.
Has anyone done this kind of remodeling that can share their experiences? - happy-2Explorerwell i finally got around to putting a fireplace heater in the bedroom.my wife loves it.
