A "preferred" cigarette lighter cellular charger???

Here's a bullet proof solution. Get a 50 watt or 75 watt or 100 watt inverter that plugs into your cigarette lighter, and plug the walwart into that. A few conversions going on, but you won't destroy the battery with too fast a charging rate, it remains at the 700mah rate.

Or order one Samsung ECA-U20CBEGSTA 700mah 12v unit, new or used from Amazon.

The post was not phrased to comment, criticize or critique the phone, the battery, the charger or the previous owner.

The question was posed to get a CORRECT car charger for the phone. The Samsung wall wart is rated 700ma. Car chargers are rated 1000ma or even 2000 ma.

Better to ask than to be a bullheaded know-it-all and burn up the phone. When I am in doubt I ask questions. No matter how silly they may sound.

Or get someone else to donate you a used ATT Galaxy S3 or the Verizon Galaxy S4, which comes unlocked and will take any brand SIM Card when set in international mode.

Another thing... hold down your home button for 2 or 3 seconds, and shut down all the apps that are running in the backround when you aren't using them, or clear out the memory... that will save battery life too.

Turn down the brightness of the screen, or seek shade for viewing.

Use the battery saver mode.

I highly recommend all Android phone owners install the free app, "Battery Doctor". It is very sophisticated and will show you all the apps (usually a surprisingly high % of your installed apps), that are running in the background all the time, or if not that, auto-starting frequently and continuously. This eats battery life and slows the phone terribly. My battery life had gotten terrible, and now that I use this app, it is like 80% better, literally. Many apps that I wasn't even using but were installed, were auto starting all the time. I uninstalled the apps I could do without, and the Battery Doctor with my permission, blocked the apps I chose to keep from auto starting and eating my phone's resources.

If iphone has the same or a similar app, I would highly recommend it.

I hope that works out for you, but we have had problems trying to charge/use multiple gadgets at once. Wife's Galaxy and my phone.

From what I have read, I think that 2.4 amps is typically spread across the 3 ports on the charger, NOT 2.4 amps x 3

I believe that is to reduce heat and prolong battery life
LI BATTERIES swell when to warm, and they Are inside the phone where the heat is contained

I have bought plenty of these Motorola chargers from Amazon. OE quality and dirt cheap. Not great for night time driving. I usually have one or two spare in every vehicle. Not many Android devices will charge above 1amp regardless of mobile charger.

I'll second Anker.
Got a 110 v wall charger from Amazon and complained that it quit after two weeks. Anker called me up about it and mailed me a replacement. It's still working.
