- DesertMaxExplorerI remember now what it was.. DTV told me that at my house I was in one area for my registered service and that if I roamed around to another "area" I would need to tell them I was in that area and that the dish I needed would just know that. For some reason that makes no sense at all. Well for one thing, the Carryout systems are extremely convenient. Just pull up and turn on the tv.. home truly is where you park it!

I'm a long time DirecTV customer and going back to full timing soon. I tried to bring my home dish once before and it didn't work. I think they told me I need a different dish? Does doing that even make sense or is it best just to invest in the expensive "always on" roof bubbles?
Winegard GM-6000 Carryout
I'm guessing the "different dish" simply had a tripod, and easier way to aim it.
I cant understand why people would buy expensive stand alone satellite systems, when a DISH or DirectTV system they are already own works just fine after mounting and aiming the dish is figured out..
Is it really that simple? I'm tempted to stop my mediacom and get DISH again just for this fact. - DesertMaxExplorerI'm a long time DirecTV customer and going back to full timing soon. Winegard GM-6000 Carryout - AllegroDNomadYes. You update the SERVICE address to get locals, NOT the billing address.
- Dutch_12078Explorer IIII modified my Dish 1000.4 dish for an easy no tools needed setup. I use a digital signal meter and the DishPointer Pro Android app for aiming.

I move mine between the garage TV and the MH all the time. My only issue is the time it takes to align the dish, and other than that, no problem.
I have a tripod and have modified it for fine tuning of azimuth and elevation.
How did you fine tune it?
Yes, how did you aim it please? - VoodooMedicineMExplorer

HI, We are planning to move one of our extra house dish receivers into our RV. We have a portable sat dish and cable.
Is this going to work? We only plan to travel around Florida so I"m not worried about the local channels.
Thanks

Simple answer. Yes. No real additional information necessary if you have the proper antenna. If you have a Hopper you need an open face antenna with some additional hardware. If you have and older Dish receiver most any open face antenna will work. If you have a 211 receiver you can use a number Dish only portable automatic antennas like the Tailgater or Pathway. Some of the other Dish receivers will also work with the dome style antennas that work with both Dish and Direct.
As to locals, you will get your home locals no matter where you travel in FL so while you might not get true locals you will still be able to watch your home Networks channels from where ever you are in FL. - TechWriterExplorer

What receiver do you plan to use and what type of dish? - ValkyriebushExplorer III use to do exactly that until I bought a pathway X-2 system for the RV.
