- diveman52ExplorerNot doing VZN, went with AT &t which is my phone carrier.
Granted I only got 10GB but I never use more than 6.
Got a new Samsung S5Active For less than I was paying before for both services. So I'm happy. Just using VZN unit the 8 when they shut me down.
Any one what to buy a good MIFI device? - docjExplorer

Verizon backed down last month from throttling 4G customers, although those with 3G plans can be throttled. If you have 4G connection issues it is caused by something else. - jhilleyExplorer

Things have changed. Our Verizon MIFI, only game in town, really, is throttled. Sometimes we can't load anything. The message it is taking too long etc. It might take several attempts. Sometimes no connection. Sometimes the connection just goes away. Together with Firefox and seemingly impossible to block pop ups and ads and being routed through ad sites. Many times we have to kill the connection and go again because the ad sites the link going through takes the space. Deleting cookies, helps a lot but have to do it each time you go to a different site.
Supposedly we can connect up to ten devices on our 4G service but there is only three computers and usually just one connected ,sometimes two.
The cost is staggering with doing homework, on line and looking for jobs.
Near 500.00 one month.
Verizon probably isn't throttling you, the cell site is probably over subscribed and busy. VZW certainly isn't the cause of the ads. - louiskathyExplorer

you need to go argue that one. I've heard of others getting credits put through because of the connect/disconnect/reconnect cycle. Are you using a signal booster? Even a Wilson Cradle would help some. Call the 3G store (find it online... just google The 3G Store...) and talk to them about getting one. It's super simple to use. It will run you about $100.
Are you SURE that you are not on roaming where you are?? If you don't have a true Verizon tower... their device will only give you 100 to 300 MB before the throttling sets in. You have to be on a VERIZON tower to use their internet. - down_homeExplorer IIThings have changed. Our Verizon MIFI, only game in town, really, is throttled. Sometimes we can't load anything. Straight Talk ZTE Z289G Hotspot is on AT&T network, and the ZTE Z288L is on Verizon network. They are both 4g LTE
and somewhere I read that the device was at $99 but has now dropped to $79
Both Hotspots along with Straight Talk's year old UniMax U240C Verizon based 3G only model use the same plans:

I don't doubt it. Att and Verizon seem to have a hand on the switch. Millenicom NEW USERS were routinely throttled by Verizon. Part of Millenicom's service was to get Verizon to reset (not sure that's the right word) to get the speed to what it needed to be.
I guess if no one notices... they get away with it. Everyone should be doing speed checks to make sure they don't get by with it.
Someone else posted "choose your poison"... none of them are to be trusted. - Gene_GinnyExplorer

1. They would not give me the vet's discount that I have on my other lines because it is a promotion, not a standard plan.
2. I immediately suspended service on the device because we are currently in a park with fast, reliable Wi-Fi and we are heading to Mexico next month for the winter. It costs $15 to suspend the device. It can be suspended for up to 90 days. You can suspend it a second time, but after the second suspension (of any length) you must wait six months before suspending it again. There is no charge for taking it off suspension. You have to call them to suspend the device, but you can take it off suspension on line.
That works out very nicely for us.
Since we are adding it to our current account (with an old, grandfathered plan that has unlimited data on the Droid), it will be billed as part of that plan.
I'm happy. - Dutch_12078Explorer IIAfter an hour wait, I was able to get through to a VZW CSR that was faniliar with the Millenicom changeover. The bad news is that the $10/month discount from the $100/mo 20GB plan for a 1-year contract is no longer offered. In light of that, I did sign up at the $100 month to month rate, with $8/GB for overages. Plus taxes of course. All in all, I think it not the worst deal, although I had hoped for better. I do like the per GB overage charge though, rather than the 20GB "use it or lose it" add-on option that Millenicom offered. We typically only need 2 or 3GB to finish out the billing cycle, and this plan is a bit cheaper than using our Straight Talk 3G hotspot to fill in the gap.
- TXicemanExplorer III have been trying to call the Verizon provided number for 3 days now and still cannot get through. This morning I called and was on hold for 70 minutes and then get a message that the net work was experiencing problems and to call back later ....CLICK.
I called the regular Customer Support and they have no knowledge of Millenicom or any offering for the customers. They do not show the phone number in their data.
Se we just keep trying. Sounds like they have one person assigned to answering the phone and making changes.
