You are correct, I was only referring to the #'s on his trailer. I agree with you 100%. Perfect example, My truck when fully loaded with the trailer attached has roughly only 200lbs left before reaching it's GVWR. My trailer is only 7500lbs and my truck has a tow rating of 11,200lbs so i know exactly what your talking about...

Not sure what some of these people did back when even the 1 ton trucks only had a 250hp big block and drum brakes.
By some of the logic presented, you need a 4500 Dually to go to the grocery store for a bag of dog food.
Your loaded trailer will be around 7k lbs presumably. Not at all out of the realm of tow-ability with a newer 1/2 ton of any flavor.

To the OP, keep an eye on rear axle weight and you will be fine. In some circumstances the 3.55 gears work out better, as it may allow you to run a lower rpm in a lower gear at cruise. And the Hemi is a great engine for work. Enjoy!

The OP mentioned his "tow rating" was 8500lbs which if it was a boat may work but a high front TT with a hitch weight in excess of 1000lbs his truck shouldn't haul..will it?..of course but I was merely saying it isn't a figure which should be taken into consideration as many other limits will be far exceeded.

I almost guarantee that the trailer he is looking at loaded to camp hooked onto his truck and taken to a Cat scale would show the rear axle and payload of the truck exceeded.

will he hurt anything??? doubtful..will he kill anyone??? unlikely but numbers are numbers and if you do not want to know the numbers than why ask at all.

Where are you getting your figures from?? Why would you think this trailer will have a hitch weight that exceeds 1000lbs??? The dry tongue weight is only 650lbs, do you really think he is going to add over 400+lbs to the tongue weight once loaded???? Not to mention once the WDHitch is setup properly it will transfer up to 20% of that weight back onto the trailer axles. Also what other limits are you referring to that will be "FAR EXCEEDED"???
To the OP, You should be fine with that trailer. You will be close on payload but it's doable.

Simply no problem, just don't load the bed of your truck up. I have a similar set up with only a 4spd tranny and 7500lb rating and have no issues and tow through mountains all the time. Have fun!

First decide if you the OP believes in the specifications, limits and ratings

If not, then do whatever...but know that the OEM may not honor any warranty claim
and that you the OP have taken all off the liability hook to assume them yourself

If yes, then gather the specifications/limits/ratings for your TV and go out and
actually weigh both empty and fully loaded...axle by axle as Skip recommends

That is the only way to know where you are in reference to 'your' TV's specifications

Note that there is a huge difference between 'can do it' and 'should do it...
Based on those ratings...that it will make no matter how many 'sure you can'
and 'been doing it for decades or 100's of thousands of miles with no issue'
stuff...as there in only one person responsible for the setup and that is the
driver

Understand the 'why' of returning whatever your OEM says to the front axle
That is to both maintain enough traction/orientation of the steering system/etc
and to avoid creating an over-steering TV/Trailer setup

Post back with your specifications/limits/ratings and we will help you walk
through the simple math figuring it out...of course will also need your actual
weights by axle

yeah, this truck has a small payload.. not much more then 1200 pounds... will just have to not load up the whole family and have to take two cars I imagine..
