- Ron3rdExplorer IIII have a love-hate relationship with RV covers and I've owned a couple Adcco's.
I love how they keep the rig nice and clean between trips but hate putting it on and taking it off.
The best way I've found to put it on is to roll it up in the reverse order that you're going to roll it out if that makes sense. Start at one end and roll it to the other end then drape it over the sides. Much easier with two people.
BTW, it you have the Tyvek version with the white top, they last about 2 years. - 2012ColemanExplorer IIStoring it in a garbage can is a good idea - this is what I do, plus this keeps mice from making it their home when stored.
First, cover sharp edges with something to prevent tearing - a pool noodle works great for gutter downspouts, door stop, etc. Bubble wrap has been mentioned here as well.
Start by dragging the cover - front first up from the back of the RV. I just grab it from the garbage can and walk up the ladder. Once on top, continue dragging to the front. Then unfold over the sides. Get back on the ground and fasten the straps. I open the door and stick the can inside while stored.
For removal, unfasten the straps, get on top and pull the cover up from the sides, folding it twoard the middle a few times. Get down and drag the cover off from the back and folding it into the garbage can, as you slowly pull it off.
Rollong it up is OK, but storage in a clean plastic garbage can is the better alternative IMHO.
BTW - awesome deal on the ADCO cover! - carpetguy2ExplorerThanks for all the advice. Will tackle it this weekend
- wbwoodExplorerIf you look on CW's website where the covers are, there is a video on how to do it. They also recommend covering sharp edges with something soft to prevent the tears.
- dodge_guyExplorer III just purchased a new one to replace our 5 year old cover. After about 3 years it starts to show it's age, but with care they can last 5 years. I put mine up on the roof by myself and then roll it out and check to make sure front and back are correct and that it is right side out. When i'm ready then i just drop it down the sides. Been doing this for 5 years with no issues.
Keep in mind you do have to pad the top and bottom corners and anywhere else it may rub through. I use bubble wrap and it works great.
BTW, it is much easier to do this on a calm day! Did it on a windy day one year.....never again!!! Same with removing it.
Good luck! - uterepExplorerThese covers are amazing had ours now for 3 years
super easy to install put cover on roof unroll ( front to front rear to rear ), drop over sides , then just use straps to tighten up and hold down .
The covers are virtually indestructible I live in Ontario and it gets a LOT of snow load and wind abuse .
Thats the best $50 you ever spent , don't over think the install it really is that easy ...roof ,then unroll - gboppExplorerWhen I cover our Southwind I stack the cover on the ground at the rear of the RV. The back of the cover is on the bottom, the front on top.
It's as if you lifted the front of the RV, with the cover installed, and it slid off onto a pile at the rear.
I get on the roof, pull the cover up from the rear of the RV and walk it front. I push the sides down as I walk front. When I get near the front I stand on the installed section and push the rest into place.
Then I get on the ground and fasten it in place.
I do it myself and it takes about 30 minutes, it depends on how slow I'm moving that day.
It's a relatively simple process. If you have help it's easier, but it's easy to do it alone. - DickOKExplorerHard to explain but will try. Our cover is for a 36 ft 5th wheel and made of sunbrella fabric. As looking from the back to the front, ON THE GROUND we stretch the cover out. We fold the back up and over the top. We fold the right side over the top to where 1/2 the top is over the top and then fold it back to the edge of the top. We then do the same to the left side. This leaves the long straps on the left. We then fold the cover like an accordion from back to front. When done the back is on top. Be sure and mark which way is front. When putting it on the 5th wheel we put the cover in the bed of the truck. We have a rope around the top fold. I get on the roof and pull the cover up and over to the back. I then throw the straps over the left side and my wife pulls the left side down. Then I throw the right side down. Piece of cake. When taking off I just move the cover to the front and let it slide into the truck bed. PS we are both young 69 Years old. Leave a PM if want more info.
- ScottGNomadI start at the front and try to unroll it. I do it by myself but it's a real wrestling match.
My ADCO has held up great during it's 9 years of use. If it failed for some reason I would buy another in a heartbeat. - brireneExplorerI agree with A.Snowbird for the most part, but no reason to put it in the garbage can now. Once you've laid it out front to back, and folded roughly in thirds (take care to put the folds on top; you want to be able to unfold them and drop them over the sides). Then start rolling it up, starting from up HDthe back. Climb your ladder while holding the front end, and let the rest just unroll while you pull the front over the top towards the front. Lay it in the middle, drop the two sides over. Carefully walk to the back, or have a ladder in the front. Cinch the straps, you're done. I put mine on and take it off by myself every year. Be careful, go slow. You can adjust it a little bit from the ground if you need to. I'll beusing mine for the 6th season. One more thing; this whole procedure might be on YouTube. My cover came with a short dvd.
EDIT: YouTube does have it under "how to install an Adco RV cover". 2 minutes +.
