Weight causing tires to rub inside of trailer

When LT tires are installed on a RV a larger size is required to meet the load requirements. Correct This could be the source of the clearance problems. Also Correct unless axle to frame measurements have changed.

The LT tires are also a different compound that increases the traction to the road. Could you provide your test data to support this theory? This could cause the larger tire to rub during a turn from the tire not sliding as required.
The larger tire is also a lever that flexes the axle during a turn, longer lever, more axle flex, more tire movement.
Overall it's not a good idea to change the tire size from the OEM's selection.

Frame cracks on Lippert FW and TT frames is well documented all over the internet. From I have seen and experienced, their frames are terrible. Some of them can barely hold up the dry weight of the TT before it even leaves the factory. They are often lacking adequate or any re-enforcement in the area of the axles. Cross-bracing is typically inadequate. Welding is also typically substandard. It's a dirty little secret of the frame building industry. Regrettably, Lippert has over 90% of the market.

As I have said before, the real problem is the complete lack of any design standards in the industry and a frame manufacturer can do whatever they want and not have to answer to anyone. And they do just that - they do want they want and get away with it.

Forget about talking to Lippert. You need to talk to the right person at KZ. At the end of the day, I think the best thing to do is take it to a reputable, qualified and experienced frame shop. I had a frame shop tell me that they can do some remedial work on a frame, but it will never be what it should have been like to start with. I say this because I think it's important to study and analyze the best approach to it rather than slapping on some metal here and there. You could always get a frame shop to come up with a design for you and shouldn't cost much for that. I honestly think having a frame shop at least inspect it is a good thing because you may discover things you wouldn't have known otherwise.

When you have the repairs done keep every bit of paper on the costs and print out any email reply from Lippert. Record date, time and who you talked to at Lippert or RV company and what they said and take pictures of the problem before and after the repair.
You might even call them back if you don't have records. Ask for the name of a weld shop or RV dealer they suggest to do the repair. Be sure the pictures are well lit and in focus. Do you have a friend into photography with a good DSLR? iPhone camera is not the quality you will need.

NHTSA will want the VIN from the trailer and if you have axle P/N that is good too.

Your single complaint will not generate enough interest but if there are a number of complaints with offers to provide photos of the tire failure caused by the axle problem there may be action forced on Lippert. If that happens there is a possibility of filing for a refund but you would need to be able to prove your claim is valid. No documents no payment.

Sounds like a complaint with NHTSA is in order. If they have a "fix" on the shelf with parts in stock the company is aware of the problem.

Can you post Make, Model, year of RV and any axle or frame specific info.
Also are there part numbers or should people just call Lippert directly and ask for parts Dept?

My trailer is a 2011 KZ MXT 301. Not sure of any detail on the axles except that they are 4400# and I've confirmed the frame was made by lippert. There are part numbers or in my case a part number. When calling them just give the tech or the parts person this lip sheet number and it contains the details of the repair.
