LP Grill

Convert WeberQ 1000,1200,100 or 120 for RV connect and still have throw away bottle option. Cost is $26.93:

Parts from www.caloreequipment.com:
Model 250 Quick Connect X 1/8" MNPT $18.00
Model 250 Male Plug X 1/8" MNPT $6.00

Parts from Lowes:
Watts LFA-706 Brass Female Pipe Coupler (1/8" FIP to 1/8" FIP) $2.93

Steps:
1) Remove regulator by unscrewing the regulator from the WeberQ. You should end up with an exposed 1/8" MNPT (a male threaded piece poking out from behind the Weber's control knob).
2) Screw/attach the Watts LFA-706 to the Weber 1/8 MNPT that's sticking out.
3) Screw attach the Model 250 1/8" MNPT end of the Male Plug to the other end of the LFA-706
4) Your RV's propane hose should now just attach to the Male Plug.
5) Screw/insert the Model 250 1/8" MNPT end of the Quick Connect into the regulator you just removed from the WeberQ. If you want to make your Weber portable again, just push the Quick Connect end onto that new Male Plug you just installed.
Final note. Suggest using pipe tape on all these connects. Be sure to check for leaks.

If you have a Q dedicated to travel, replace the reg with a male plug and get an extension.

Simple solution, get a grill that uses the screw on cannisters and be through with it .No muss, no fuss

If you are going to keep the regulator on the grill you will need a setup like this. If you tr to run grill on low pressure side of RV regulator and also use grill regulator you will have a low flame.

What kind of controller.. A simple valve.

You may find that the Motor Home manufacturer has a specific Grill they sell to mate with that port.. Which Is why I do not like low pressure ports.. I prefer high pressure ports.. (Stay-a-while on a MH, extend-a-flow on a trailer) because those you can choose your grill from a long, long, long list of grills that take throw away bottles or even tanks.

That said, Some grills can be easily modified to work with that kind of hook up.. The Coleman Road Trip for example, though I would not recommend it (Not enough heat). still the mod would be easy.

You should have a model 250 (standard since '04), it should be stamped into the female, one of the other versions is Model 5LP (used for high pressure).

my camco grill came with the fittings for both plug in to RV and attaching a propane cylinder to it. mine was the old one that was cast aluminum and I believe it is not stainless steel. mine was a floor model missing one of the handles on it so I got about 50% off.

Just get a Camco Olympus grill on Amazon. Its a portable low pressure grill. Or see YouTube for how to convert. Walmart sells an $11 part that replaces the high pressure reg control if you want to convert a weber Q. Here's the part at Camping World although Walmart and Amazon have it too. If you need the hose, it's available also.

Sorry, Ranger Smith, but the LP line the OP referred to is NOT Liquid Propane, it is Low Pressure.

To the OP, it is true you do not need the regulator on the grill. However it must be noted that not all grills are usable with that low pressure gas line. If you have a grill that does NOT have separate regulator and control valve, it won't work without more modification than it is worth.

If your grill has a separate flame height valve, all you need is the male quick-connect and a hose. And maybe a couple reducing couplings. You should be able to get the parts from about any RV store. If the store can't fix you up, that will tell you something about the store.

Do be aware, however, that there are two quick connect fitting sizes in use. They look identical to the eye, but are just enough different as to be completely incompatible. I have no idea which one you have on your rig, but my local dealer describes them as "the old one" and "the new one." Whatever that means, for I haven't found any rhyme or reason to the age of trailer on which they are used.

You can get the male connectors for about $7 a piece. If it was me, I'd go buy BOTH, and at your leisure, return the one that didn't work. That's what I did.
