Not a "high tech" question.I am looking for a battery powered, table top fan, somewhere between about 6" and 12". Not too loud on high speed. It needs to stow fairly flat.

The red head girl picked up one of the O2cool 10" desk fans at Home Depot for the motorhome. Runs on D-cells or AC adapter. It's compact and quiet. Works very well.

My first battery operated fans where o2cools too. I needed to keep the dogs cool and safe driving thru the south in summer time.Unless you have stock in the energizer bunny you will "literally spend $100's of dollars on the batteries" for those fans and they last all of about 15 minutes. And if you use them a lot like I did they just up and die. I threw them all out in the dumpster at a CG!Here is what I bought to replace them.These fans are big, "powerful", low and high speed, RECHARGEABLE batteries AND each charge lasts a loong time. I bought an additional battery kept charged so I can keep these fans running forever.Ryobi (this pix is from back when I bought them. If you already have a bunch of Ryobi tools and batteries anyway like I do, then the Ryobi fan is a no brainer. I use mine all the time, especially working on my vehicles in Phoenix. It runs for a LONG time on the big battery pack.

I know this is a somewhat old thread but since there seems to be a bit of contention about the O2cool fans, I thought I would post actual measured test results on one of my fans. Using a bench power supply set to 13.6 volts (changing the output requires taking the supply apart so it stays at 13.6), I measured 610 mA on high and 450 mA on low. At 12.6 volts these current draws would be lower since the fan uses a permanent magnet DC motor. The coaxial power connector on the side of the fan takes a 5mm O.D x 2.1mm I.D. plug if you want to make your own cable to plug into your RV. Hope this helps some folks who would like to use an O2cool. BTW, these results are for the 10" fan.

That would work if you are hooked up up shore power. But I'd bet that fan would drain a battery pretty quick when boondocking off the battery only!! :)

Use NiMH rechargeable batteries and settle for slightly less fan power. Or these fans will eat-your-lunch with battery replacement cost.

We have three 02 Cool fans that we bought at Walmart on their "seasonal Change over" for $14.00 bucks each. Of course they came with the 120V adapter cord. We have never used the D size batteries in them. I added a piece of lamp cord and soldered it into the battery compartment and put a cigarette adapter plug on the opposite end.

Yes you can plug the o2cools in to run just like any other electrical fan. But it has been my experience that if you have to use it on the batteries which are D batteries which are very expensive? The run time is less than an hour on low and 15 minutes on high!

My gen broke down on the way thru the south in a very hot summer. Making for a dangerous situation for my dogs in the MH because I could not run the coach air. I spent the next hours driving stopping to feed that fan with batteries which did add up to $100 bucks!!

That's when I pulled into Home Depot and said there HAS to be a better battery operated fan!!:B:W

By battery power, do you mean you put AA batteries into the fan or you plug into a 12v outlet?

Hella make a nice 12v fan if you are connecting to the RV's 12v system.

We use two of the O-2 COOL Fans here. One for each tent bed end... They run on 120VAC using a xfmr, 12DC using an adapter plug or internal D-CELLS...

Works great for us...

When we are running our OIL FILLED low profile Electric Heaters this fan sits behind them and is just right to blow air from the oil filled heater to move some warm air around the room...
