My Dometic cooling unit did indeed have a valved service port. As did the two Norcold units that I replaced for customers. Your mileage may vary.

This was shot from the storage lot because it's far enuf away (~5miles) to see it. At the house on the other hand, maybe a mile from that plume, is essentially underneith it. The ash fallout is ridiclous, looks like snow.
Man- be safe Jeff- given a choice, I'll take floods over fires any day.
No probs with flooding, we can't manage to get a sprinkle these days, hence the fire :( - SCVJeffExplorerNo valve, they're all pinched and welded.
- RLS7201Explorer IIThere is a service port on the cooling unit, with a valve that can be slowly opened. Make sure the valve is up or the sodium chromate will blow out and kill your grass. :S

About 37,000 acres right now. They got control of the west end of the fire last night and are working on the East side over by Agua Dulce/ Acton. There's been a nonstop stream of equipment and personnel coming in and it sure showed yesterday. The suits are finally talking about buying a pair of super scoopers to keep in Van Nuys

HERE is a time lapse of the death of the West flank yesterday. I put the iPhone in the window and went back to wiring the fridge for awhile - Old-BiscuitExplorer III300 PSI........

The only hazardous substance is the small amount of sodium chromate. The ammonia is really non-hazardous as far as disposal is concerned.
Of course, the sodium chromate is pretty much what the Erin Brockovich story was about.

With my recent 2 month stay in the hospital thanks mostly to Pneumonia, I am particularity aware of things that might damage whats left. I'll call me HVAC friend and see what he recommends since I'll have two of them by the weekend. I know the Freon rules but not Ammonia, Sulfur, etc.
